I told you EV's were Rubbish

It seems like EV’s are too expensive and not worth buying if there’s no subsidy…
EV's

What do you suppose they’ll do with all those charging stations?
Another white elephant gone t$ts up… :009:

I’ve said all along they were not for me, people I know did change but have since sold their EVs and gone back to petrol/diesel. Thing is that’s whacked up the price of 2nd hand motors now.

“Last month, Ford’s CEO predicted that market share of electric cars would be cut in half once the federal tax credit for clean vehicles met its untimely demise on September 30.”
It is not so much people turning away from EV’s, as it is Trump helping out his fossil fuel friends & funders. I could have told you Trump hates the environment.

Absolutely Rox, the classic car business has gone off the scale with people wanting to buy no nonsense vehicles.
If Electric Cars had been invented before diesel, I can imagine the reception the new diesels would have got…Get yourself the latest technology in transport, they will take the world by storm…
Forget about charging your car with expensive electricity and wondering if it will get you to your favourite destination…Now you can bung in the tank just about anything that burns, and travel hundreds of miles without worrying. With hardly any electrical system to speak of, any garage will be able to fix your vehicle in no time, and no need for expensive and complex integrated circuits that have to be ordered from China, most parts come straight off the shelf.
Engines are so simple to understand, even a ten year old can fix one. And with no huge lithium battery strapped underneath, it will make your vehicle that much lighter, and all the power will be used to push it forward and not hold it back, and with hardly any fire risk if you hit something.
Leave it on the drive for long periods and the tank will still be full, and not in need of another charge.
Zoom off for up to five hundred miles on one tank of diesel if you buy a decent size one…
And you can even have the heater, radio, demister and headlights on in the winter without worrying if the 12 volt battery has enough charge, your trusty reliable diesel will even charge yer battery while you drive…No need to plug it into the mains.
And finally…A diesel engine will last you for life, they will still be motoring on after 300,000 miles…
Whatever did we do before Diesels?
Now you can relegate your old EV to driving around the golf course or deliver the milk with it…

Electric cars are a folly for the wealthy. Great in theory, unaffordable in reality.

I wish I’d said that Surfer…Brilliant!

Do you mean the technology or the cost of driving an EV? While the former is making progress, the latter has become more expensive due to increasing charging rates. Your example of the US shows a development that is hardly surprising given that state subsidies are running out. It might be better to show the development over a longer period and not just a snapshot in time.
The charging stations will be used again.

The worst thing about EV’s is the current lack of infrastructure to keep your vehicle charged for when you need it.

Agree but there are more and more places now with chargers but yes as of today you are correct .

One place which is famous gas station / eatery here in Florida has lots of charging areas but I go there for the cheesecake and coconut shakes and so delicious that first time I tried them ( ordered both ) I cried much like a mother does when she first holds her newborn baby in the hospital .

Both Dachs, the technology is far too complex, and expensive to repair, that’s if you can find anyone that knows how repair an EV. Most electronics in all vehicles made today come in ‘Modules’ so rather than repair a component for say, a few quid, they replace the whole module costing thousands in some cases.
The complexity and number of parts in a hybrid are almost double of those in a ICE and they still require a heavy, fair size high voltage battery. Mining all the lithium and rare metals needed for vehicle batteries, huge battery storage systems for domestic and industrial supplies, cordless tools and electronic items, probably produces more mining than for the extraction of oil or gas.

Obviously subsidies will cease once there is no alternative Dachs. Apparently subsidies have already been reduced on the cost of excess power going to the grid from solar panels on private houses here. The majority of all electric vehicles are tens of thousands of pounds more expensive than the same class of ICE vehicles. Stands to reason when car companies have had to retool factories and apply completely different technology…Somebody has to foot the bill…

I don’t think one months sales is a very good indicator other than a knee jerk reaction.

Let’s wait until end of year sales figures are published before making any rash statements. about car sales in ONE country after ONE month’s figures are posted.

When I visited a garage to purchase a new vehicle, the sales bloke told me that sales of Electric Vehicles was poor compared to petrol and diesel vehicles. There also have been reports in the local news recently reporting the same. So it’s not just America.
Quite a few car showrooms have closed some of their outlets with the loss of many jobs due to poor results.

I have a RAV which is a small SUV , few years old .

I went to look at new one’s but at the time they only had on the lot the new hybrids and more money plus my insurance would go up as hybrids cost more to insure as wacky as that is .

I do not drive much at all so not like would ever notice the money I saved in gas with higher insurance plus I was taken back that at the time I did not have a choice it was hybrid or nothing so opted for nothing stayed with what I have which like .

Now again they offer ‘’ non ‘’ hybrids .

My neighbors have hybrids and love them so reconsidering that , it was not having the option which soured me as I do not like change , as I have said before I still use a flip phone and have the old Cingular model .

One of my daughters sent me a skinny type imagine all of you have that type but my personality is a Cingular flip phone , lol

Either way I do see more and more Telsa’s in area , and rather large gaudy but again Miami is " look at me as I live outside my means " mentality .

EV’s have become as you know in the USA political , well not EV’s per-se but the popular Telsa which think was biggest seller .

It has flip flopped so much that have no idea which side of the isle now likes Telsa , suspect neither side .

EV’s aren’t rubbish, they are just devoid of style, purely just for getting from A to B.

Style has always been a matter of personal preference being in the eye of the beholder. That’s why those cars are not devoid of style but devoid of a person’s preferred style.
