Went to the freezer this morning and upon opening I saw ice everywhere, my first thought was, damn, fridge is not working and the freezer has defrosted.
Then I remembered that it is frost free. On closer inspection I noticed an exploded can of soft drink lemonade, Totally destroyed.
I obviously left a full can in the freezer.
Yes I’ve done that in the past with a tin of Coke Zero, makes a horrible mess!
Frozen Lemonade all through the freezer
Yes, had a similar thing happen. A 2 litre bottle of Coca-Cola exploded in our chest freezer with enough force to lift the lid a few inches. Good job nobody was looking for food in the freezer at the time. A big mess to clear up.
Mr H put a can of lager in the freezer compartment of the fridge, next day it blew the compartment door off,the bang was incredible and the lager was everywhere.
Friend’s son up the road had a bottle or can of drink explode in the car. Think it was in the hot weather. Imagine having to clean that up!
That would be a nightmare and a chore indeed.
I once brought a bottle wine to a friend’s home, and her hubby put it in the freezer to quickly chill.
Gift forgotten until the next day, and it has exploded overnight! Needless to say, he had to clean up his mess.
They do go off with devastating effect if the mix is too rich.
That’s seriously not funny!
I vaguely remember topping up bottles of home brew with a little extra sugar to give it that essential fizz!
I was in the house when it happened, it was a real explosion and scared the life out of me. If anyone had been nearby I hate to think what would have happened the shattered glass was everywhere and even the window glass had a chuck taken out of it by flying bits.
Afterwards I very gingerly put the rest of the bottles in the sink and very carefully prised the crown seals off to relieve the pressure (it was excessive).
They were home made ginger beer from a ginger beer plant I had made to show my then youngish teenage son how to do it and how to bottle the beer. He was not the slightest bit interested so the dozen bottles sat in the laundry for years beside the washing machine until the explosion. I thought the caps would blow off, but no!
The bottles were from my home brew beer making days. Still have dozens of them in the shed.
Wow, might be time to rid yourself of these potential leathal bombs.
Imagine how you will feel if someone is injured from flying glass.
They’re all gone as explained.
I mis-interpreted the last sentence. Still have dozens of them in the shed. oops.
