I rarely watch television

A couple of lines from the show, Open All Hours;
Arkwright - When I was a lad, early was a lot earlier than it is now. We had no time to go broody.
Granville - What, even during puberty?
Arkwright - Puberty? There was no such thing as puberty when I were a lad. Aw, it hadn’t been invented. We went straight from childhood into heavy labour. There wasn’t a p p p p pube in sight :laughing:

I just watch the important stuff these days, Coronation Street and Bangers and Cash…

I’m not a great telly watcher either but living on a farm I’m usually busy with other things. I record anything I really want to see like the crime series “Shetland” and the News every day, both local and Scotland Wide.

We have the News on in the background, in the kitchen, sometimes. That’s about it.

Nearly all the TV we watch is streamed. We follow a couple of YouTube channels, Netflix and Now TV. Seldom watch any terrestrial stuff these days. Seems to be nothing more than constant tired game shows.

Only watch films and dramas. Use a couple of free streaming channels that don’t have/minimal adverts. Had enough of all the ads on terrestrial TV, and hadn’t been happy with BBC either, so got rid.

I remember the old days when we had a TV in the corner, just the one in the whole house, and comfy chairs all around. The whole family in the same room watching the same thing at the same time!

Have not owned a TV for over 15 years.

And no TV remote for people to fiddle with. Perhaps that’s why everyone was so much slimmer in those days. Because they had to keep getting up to change channels or adjust the volume or aerial…

Agh! Those indoor aerials that seldom worked that well and needed constant adjusting!

If I remember correctly you had to turn the TV on a few minutes before the start of your programme for it to warm up. :tv:

Not much telly watching anymore, prefer Netflix, Prime series and films.
There’s never anything worth watching on TV and even if there is, it’s bombarded with commercial breaks.
TV news always on at lunch/dinner times but just in the background :smile:

They used to play it in the cinemas too,I’d forgotten that.
I think too many people got injured in the rush to get out though.
