Gum Trees have started shedding their bark covering. A process called decorticating. In particular at this time of year, Lemon Scented Gum Trees - Corymbia citriodora, are putting on a display of this shedding.
The bark being shed is less than half a millimetre thick.
Trees are great, but, they can stop one seeing the wood!

If you can find a tree, apparently they’re all Debarking
Reminded me of this unusual tree: (Rainbow Eucalyptus)
Wow. Never seen one of those. A little research shows me they are native to Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.
Very pretty colorful!
