Neither do I, just fairly hot is ok, but not excessively.

Yeah, that’s pretty much how it works. Mixing them should even out the heat to a manageable medium-hot.
It’s a solid way to use up what’s in the pantry without making things too intense. Just throw in some rice or cornbread on the side and you’re set.
