I grew up watching Dr Who

One of the best shows for a kid to marvel at.
Dr Who first aired in Australia in 1965. The first Dr I saw was Jon Pertwee, 1970, followed by Tom Baker, 1974, Peter Davison, 1982, Colin Baker, 1984.
I do not remember those that followed, Sylvester McCoy, 1987 or Paul McGann, 1996.
There was a break of 10 years before the show was resurrected with Jon Hurt playing the War Doctor. I never saw this/these episodes.
The next Dr I remember seeing is Davis Tennant in 2005, then Matt Smith, 2010. The final Dr I saw was Peter Capaldi, 2014.
There were 15 Doctors up to the present day.

T - Time
A - And
R - Relative
D - Dimension
I - In
S - Space

Ah, your are a youngster - I remember William Hartnell, the first Dr Who !!

So do I, I missed the very first episode of Dr Who and it was years before I finally saw it. Apart from that I have seen every episode until the writing got weird

I disliked the Dr with the boater and I stopped watching when it was a female Dr Who, not because it was female but because the stories were incomprehensible.

The specs were the daftest sonic screwdriver ever and Tom Baker was the best Dr Who

I’ve watched it of course but more for the female companions I think.Jo Grant was my favourite in the olden days and Billie Piper more recently.

As a child, I used to watch Dr Who every Saturday when Tom Baker played him, later on as I grew up I just went off it.

There was a point where entertainment became a message and, flying Daleks? what was that all about!

Few people know about the one off Asian special episode, featuring the Dhal-eks  :icon_wink:

Never a huge fan of this, but I did watch it up until David Tennant’s doctor. Hated the Matt Smith version and sort of gave up on it and never watched it since. I have seen the odd episode since then, but found them incomprehensible and unwatchable. The whole thing needs a compete restart and some good stories before I would consider going back to it.

I saw the first ever Doctor Who, when I was really small, and followed it for years but when Tom Baker left I’d had enough. I started watching again with David Tennant but so far I’ve not liked any of the newer ones.

I think that was the big flaw with the Daleks all you needed was a single step to defeat them. The Cybermen? just stand behind them

I watched Dr Who from the very first episode too. My favourite was David Tennant. I have all his episode on DVD & the Christmas specials.
I watched the 14th Dr, until David left & thought the way they changed him to Ncuti Gatwa was inspirational. I did watch most of the episodes after that, but couldn’t get into them. I don’t think Rose should be the Doctor though, if she is going to be. That’s the way Ncuti’s Dr finished.

Random Dr Who quotes:

“I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes, and the dreamer of improbable dreams.”
“The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things or make them unimportant.”
“You don’t just give up. You don’t just let things happen. You make a stand! You say no! You have the guts to do what’s right, even when everyone else just runs away.”
“Because every time you see them happy you remember how sad they’re going to be. And it breaks your heart. Because what’s the point in them being happy if they’re going to be sad later? The answer is, of course, because they are going to be sad later.”
“Never be cruel. Never be cowardly. Remember, hate is always foolish and love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.”
“Letting it get to you. You know what that’s called? Being alive. Best thing there is. Being alive right now is all that counts.”
“Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame.”
“Everything’s got to end sometime. Otherwise nothing would ever get started.”
“There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t act childish sometimes.”
“You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common: They don’t alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views.”

Stopped watching it years ago … Jon Pertwee was a good Doctor but Tom Baker was the best.
Some of the storylines were so unbelievable when you watch them again you wonder that you watched them first time around.

Actually, I fibbed. I always liked the renegade Time Lord, The Master best.
Some women just love a baddie

I certainly remember the first episodes of Dr Who with William Hartnell. I watched some of the “lost” first episodes which were aired by the BBC recently via the iplayer. I’d forgotten that Peter Purves was his side kick or assistant. Daleks were a very original invention. I can’t imagine how they came up with that idea!

I vaguely remember William Hartnell.
Dalek toys were very desirable for kids that’s for sure.

There is or was something a bit special and appealing about the design and the colours.
