I enjoy reading fiction horror books

Over the years, Ray Bradbury, Anne Rice, James Herbert, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz, plus others have allowed me to lose myself for a few hours.
Engrossed in the macabre world of these authors.
My latest book being Seize the Night, written by Dean Koontz in 1998. Authors have such a way with words. Some of the descriptive words in this book

Sibilant - making or characterized by a hissing sound.
Hellacious - very great; bad; or overwhelming.
Euphonious - pleasing to the ear
Mellifluous - (of a sound) pleasingly smooth and musical to hear.
Susurrant - whispering; murmuring; rustling.
Chitinous - of the white horny substance found in the exoskeleton of several invertebrate animals.
Scintillant - glistening; shimmering; gleaming
Teratoid - resembling a monster; malformed or abnormal.
Stroboscopic - as in a flickering fluorescent light tube.

I source all my books from my local library. Stopped buying books many years ago.
Latest book I read was -
The Scourge between the Stars. Ness Brown
Sci-Fi/Horror
Mankind goes out into space looking for a human friendly planet to colonise as Earth is doomed.
Menacing alien lifeform is encountered. Not really original, but readable
