In my dream I was operating a Gantry Crane, the large ones that move sea containers.
Operating the remote control the crane went in the opposire direction to what I wanted.
The crane came alive and proceeded to run amok, running over cars, crashing through warehouses, then it morphed into a Bulk Carrier which rammed at speed into the wharf, toppling the other Gantry Cranes.
I woke up.
Very occasionally I dream that I am running up a turbine/steam engine or firing a boiler and can’t remember what to do next, very annoying.
Thank gawd I let my ticket expire!

Sounds more like a nightmare.
I’ve got nothing but admiration for crane operators especially those building skyscrapers.

Many years ago I was shown round the Airbus factory near Chester. This is the final assembly plant for Airbus wings. They have huge gantry cranes running along the factory to carry entire wings, which are big. You can stand upright in the space where the wing will attach to the fuselage. I was told that since WW2 they employed women as crane operators. The pressures of war on manpower made this a necessary change back then. But they immediately noticed a significant drop in accidents, damage and dangerous incidents when women took on the cranes. So it made a lot of sense to continue with women operators.
