I could not find my car today

Parked in a large car park.
No idea where it was. Looking, looking, looking.
I realised today my car does not go Beep - Beep when the key fob is pressed. Only the small lights flash once.
Finally found it after 16 minutes walking up and down the rows of cars. :slightly_smiling_face:

I had that happen at Heathrow Airport years ago. I went to pick up some friends who had arrived back from holiday. I was late and so parked the car quickly and hurried into the terminal without taking note of the level or row.

We all spent time finding the car. An embarrassing situation.

Try doing what we do and take a photo on your phone of your car showing where it’s parked before you leave it

We’ve done it since we went to a shopping mall and didn’t remember we’d parked in a little second storie car park outside M&S

We searched the main car park for an hour and reported it stolen……

I think a good precaution is to let all the tyres down and then look for the lowest car.

I walked passed an old gent in the street having a problem opening his car.His wife turned up and said "That’s not ours, you parked over there"Pointing to a different model car but same colour.

I do the same as @Maree just take a photo of the level and section if it is a big car park. Here’s one I prepared earlier at Sydney Airport

Started doing that many years ago when I couldn’t find my car in the Genting Highlands in Malaysia, I ended up giving a bloke on a motorbike RM3 to find it for me.

While between jobs I used to help a bloke out who owned a car hire business. I regularly collected vehicles from customs and excise at Dover that had been impounded when the occupants were found to be smuggling cigarettes or booze into the country. On one occasion I collected the vehicle and decided to stop halfway home at a services for a break and a drink.
I realised after walking into the extensive car park that I had forgotten where I parked, and worse of all, I couldn’t even the remember the make of vehicle, or the colour… :017:
I spent the next hour walking up and down the rows of cars discretely pressing the dobber to see which car flashed it’s lights…
:flushed:

Hi

I have an app on my smartphone called find my car.

Just press the button and it stores the GPS location and will take you back there.

I also use it in a strange town to get back to a shop etc.

That sounds a very handy app to have.

I try to avoid large car parks as, one must admit that all modern cars look the same . . . or is it just my eyesight! If I can park near a tree or recognizable natural feature or a proximity to the trolley park can help.

Hi

Thanks for that.

I also have what 3 words, which is very accurate anywhere in the World.

I very rarely get out of the house now, but if I do and have a cardiac arrest, it is brilliant.

I said to my wife yesterday - hun someone seems to have stolen the car - can’t see it in the driveway and can’t hear it when I click the keys?? - she said come back in darl - we haven’t had one for four years now!!

Yup, that’s exactly what we do, makes it much easier to find

Plus it shows the condition it was in when you left it in case anyone prangs it while your away and you have to make an insurance claim

If you delve into the operating manual, you might be lucky and find out how to make the system alert you via the horn when you press the fob button.

I found that you only lose your car in car parks once. Such a disconcerting experience that measures are taken, notes made (mental or otherwise) from then on.
