There are approximate 700,000 Emus across Australia.
A flightless bird standing up to 2 metres (6.5 feet) tall and weighing 55kg (120 lb)
Second largest bird after the Ostrich.
The adult birds have no natural enemies though their eggs and chicks can be eaten by dingoes, feral dogs, goannas, eagles, pigs, snakes and foxes.
5 to 15 eggs are laid over several days and it is the male incubates the eggs full time. This takes from 8 to 10 weeks.

I just watched a thing on 7.30 Report about how the armoured divisions (successors to Light Horse) get the emu feathers for their slouch hats
I’ve only seen Emus (and a solitary camel) on the road between Adelaide and Canberra.
There are plenty here in WA
I never saw even one in Shenton Park or anywhere in all of Subiaco. There was, however, one kookaburra that woke me every morning.

As you well know, there are no wild emus in metropolitan Perth.
One has to travel a small distance away from suburbia before espying emus.
Perhaps the forum needs a broader emoticom smile so there can be no mistake?
