I am receiving messages Windows 10 support will cease in October

What happens if I do nothing?
I have Trend Security
Do I need to go to Windows 11?

you should still be able to use windows 10. What you won’t be able to get is any security updates. So the option is to stay with W10 and risk any cyber attacks or update to W11. Of course this also depends on what third party security you already have installed and how good it is.
I went over to W11 to still get latest updates and widows protection for what it is worth

You simply won’t get any updates. Your Win10 will just stay in the same state past the support date. Win11 is the way to go if you want updates and patches - if your hardware supports it. No idea how effective Trend Security is, but there will be a lot of PC’s and Laptops (mine included) which don’t support Win11 and will forever remain Win10, unless I switch over to Linux.

The only way to know if my HP Laptop will support Windows 11 is to attempt installation?

Is Windows 10 automatically removed when Windows 11 is installed?

there’s no going back once you install windows 11.

In Win10, if you go to Settings > Windows Update, there should be a prompt asking you to Check System Requirements, click that and it will run a small program which will check your hardware for suitability for Win11. If your hardware doesn’t measure up, you can’t install Win11. (at least officially).

Actually that is incorrect, you have something like 10 days to revert back to Win10

Yes I think so, I have been offered it on one of my upgraded computers
