The same thing happened to me. I joined about 12-15?? years ago, then I tried to close my account … no luck
Bye-bye Facebook
My Facebook name was “Pari d’ Emi” an anagram of “Impaired”, the username I had on a forum previously. The Facebook group set up for ex forum members. They never question the name or asked for proof of
Go to your Facebook account.
Click on settings in upper right hand corner
Accounts center choose FB (you may have instagram, etc)
Choose what to do if you pass away (who can close your account)
or’
Delete and close your account
It’s a lot to do, but yes, you can close your account. Another option is to temporarily choose to deactivate the account. I know several who have taken a break from FB in this way. You can leave it deactivated for years.
Here is a link to help you. https://www.facebook.com/help/250563911970368
Sound advice Pam and thank you!
But can we totally wipe out a Facebook account? Somehow I doubt it!
you could remove all content from your account so it is just blank pages.
I am not and never have been a member of facebook. Still I get blocked.
Perhaps the AI let them know you are a bad character?
That’s akin to getting turned away from hell .
I’d thank my lucky stars if I were you .
That ‘turning off JavaScript’ method mentioned earlier in the thread doesn’t work with blocked Facebook page content (it does with other sites that block though).
A while ago, I wanted to see if pupils from my infants and junior schools had made old bones. Links to the school lead to Facebook pages where I could read the contents without being a member. This doesn’t work now, JavaScript disabled or not. I suppose Facebook has undergone updates.
Before this was the case, I did find out the girl across the road from me, who I was friends with in very early years, has made it to old age. Good to know.
I’ve been a member of FB for many years, my family is scattered all over the world, and we keep in touch through the Site. I’ve never had a jot of bother with the site until a couple of months ago. It seems they are testing out AI and belive me it’s causing havoc, it objects to so much and everyone is complaining. I posted a photo of 4 newborn Clydesdale Foals, the AI removed it, I got a message telling me I had only posted it to get likes, WTH??? I posted it as my niece loves horses as much as I do, and I knew it would please her. Also sometimes I share a post from another friend and that gets removed and I get a warning from AI. Seems like I’m not the only one either, lots of people complaining about it.
I dont understand this objection - nobody posts something hoping it gets ignored - so why is getting likes a bad thing - that means you have posted something lots of people liked, isnt that what Facebook wants??
It’s certainly the way it used to be. But AI seems to make up new rules as it goes along.
No way that I can find to complain either, and believe me I’ve hunted.
I occasionally get emails saying someone has logged into my Facebook account. I don’t have and never have had a Facebook account!
None of these issues would have been apparent on “Friends Reunited”
I wish I had some friends to ‘Reunite’ with…
Lets face it Foxy, the name of the site was a farce from the offset , should have been called “Acquaintances Reunited”.
I am getting this message too and I am on Facebook, but due to a new computer in need of a new password it is giving me the same message to and no password.
Sounds as if AI has almost total control. I suspect that many people will shy away from FB going forward.
My lovely daughter has fixed it for me, she was not going to give up & I am now back on FB.
Scammers
they are like those phone scammers who ring and say we have detected an issue with your computer - they dont know if you even have a computer but are just trying their luck to find a sucker.
