The island of Carriacou took a direct hit from Hurricane Beryl as a strong Category 4. These people are going to need a great deal of financial help; the damage is stunning. I don’t think there is a single house or business that hasn’t sustained damage.
Awful and very frightening . Im guessing people cover themselfs and homes and business’s for financial help through insurance
I cant imagine the fear and stress
Many locals used plywood sheathing for their walls and corrugated aluminum ( a-LOO-mi-num ) or they had the right roofs but didn’t use clips, so the outer envelops peeled away almost immediately.
Much worse than the storms are the humid days of cleanup after the storm with no electricity and no showers. They’ll get it done though.
Humbling to watch . They still smile
Susan, that is what I noticed too ! I have heard before how kind the people are, and I found likewise when in Grenada. Their positive attitude will serve them well in the recovery.
