Now that’s a new one for me - and I’m a Scotsman !!
I’m an avid Hurkle Durkler and have been for years, funny how my non Hurkle Durkle friends seem to think it gives them some kind of moral high ground to insist they “can’t lie in bed, I’m always up at 5am” …….who cares ? ![]()
Who cares indeed!
My DNA says I’m a night owl. Early birds are wired differently.
And to think all these years I’ve been calling myself a slob … so, instead I’m a hurkle-durkler!
Being an ex agency worker meant all kinds of weird and wonderful and very often unpredictable hours and shifts.
As a consequence my sleep pattern is still pretty appalling. That’s why I’m regularly on the forum at ungodly hours. I’m not even Australian! ![]()
I might as well change my forum name to Nosferatuboot! ![]()
I do indulge in a power Hurkle Durkle from time to time ![]()

Early to bed, early to rise …
That’s me in my old age.
A bit of Dilly Dallying during the day.
Only in my younger days, when I was a night owl.
Somehow over the years I turned into an early bird.

Ah yes - I went there a few times once with my family.
That’s the worst thing about getting older, they say your ability to truly enjoy a deep sleep lie-in diminishes. But being unable to sleep doesn’t mean you can’t hurkle durkle to your heart’s content.
If your going to Hurkle Durkle, don’t have the tele or the radio on or any form of mental stimulation. weird dreams will be the only outcome ![]()
On the contrary, I like to" Bash the Baroque" when I go for a Hurkle Durkle on my echo dot
I find listening to Henry Purcell very relaxing…
I’ve never, ever had weird and wonderful dreams about wearing wigs …yet!
That’s surprising, having Chamber Music on whilst dozing could encourage frequent visits to the John, for a Hurkle Durkle!!
