What was stored inside it?
Think it was empty.
“The building, which is seven storeys high, was set to be turned into a hotel, according to a development application lodged with the City of Sydney by developer Hanave Pty Ltd.”
From the ABC
apparently a heritage listing building empty apart from parties of homeless ones and it is thought the fire was deliberately started by youths who may also be homeless!! - so this is how we guard our heritage buildings or make secure??
It is an age old tradition among owners of listed buildings, get someone else to burn it down. The Elizabethan Theatre went the same way when I lived in Newtown.
On TV news as I write 2 kids handed selves in as responsible othere were also in building at the time apparently and… it seems aothers unknown apparently there and missing ( possibly lost in the blaze ? )
well you own and close a listed building then don’t just ignore it - make it secure and have spot check guards - the homeless and street kids will always gravitate to these premises - doesn’t anyone know or care?/
