My drive through the Derbyshire Dales this afternoon wasn’t at all enjoyable!
It involved several long winding country lanes where there was only room for one car! Twice I met a car head on & twice they refused to budge!
I got out of the car & approached them - showed them my disabled badge & told them I couldn’t turn my body enough to back the car. Thankfully as soon as I spoke to them their animosity/stubbornness vanished. The first one said ‘Do you want me to back it for you’ Of course I said ‘Yes please’
Then bl**dy hell it happened again! … The second time, the opposing driver agreed to back his car to let me pass. He had to go ever such a long way back - I felt guilty really but he was a skilled backer & I’m rubbish so I suppose it was ok…
Phew - I was never so happy to get off those winding country lanes - never again!!
I needed a drink after all that. We returned to Matlock & went in a pub but it was solid full so we walked out again. I decided to come straight home & when getting in the car I bumped my head - blood trickled down my forehead. I was swearing like nobody’s business. Tony just sat there!
Anyway - we got home & had a nice cuppa & watched Joan Collins life story which I’d recorded a few days ago…
oh heck Carol, sounds very stressful. I have to admit whilst I love the scenery whilst being a passenger on the country lanes I hate driving on them myself. Too many drivers speed on those roads and it’s hair raising.
Sorry you banged your head, I bet that shook you up, I understand why the air would be blue, you’d had a chitty day and then that to cap it all!
I’ve been to Dads then home to do absolutely nothing but loll around with my feet up, I fell asleep for a while with the dog then I gave Loki a good brush. His fur is very long and he looks like a right cute fluff ball, adorable. He fights me when its brush time but I always win and he concedes LOL.
I made a fish dish for tea and now my house stinks but it tastes lovely.
Well I was driving down a narrow country lane in Derbyshire when I had to stop and reverse back for miles to let another car get past, but apart from that, my day has been okay.
Household tip for getting rid of fish and other cooking smells…
a half cup or so of distilled vinegar set in a saucer or small dish overnight on your kitchen counter. It works remarkably well. I sometimes leave it for two days.
Slow, very slow. Totally opposite to yesterday. In the morning it was the New Year Dook in the Firth and at a Surfing Competition in the afternoon…I was taking photos not taking part, my feet stayed firmly on the shore.
I drive those one car lanes all the time, no option if I want to get where I’m going. BUT, we have passing places every couple of hundred yards. Don’t your roads?
Yes the passing place was approx 100yards away & I’m no good at backing the car. The lane was very narrow with a deep sloping hillside at one side. It made me nervous!!
Forgot to add, if you have a large kitchen, place a dish on opposite sides of the room to take care of odors quickly. I do fish very often myself. Love it.
