How the infamous heatwave of 1976 compares to temperatures these days

I am a fish fanatic I keep African Cichlids ( Peacocks ) and a few heavy plated tanks some with Killifish .
Killifish are very popular in the UK and Germany so going on those sites I have somewhat learned the Celsius system .

The British Killifish Association is huge and I used to buy eggs there but they stopped selling outside of the UK and though now no need to buy any more eggs I used ebay / Amazon to by their eggs which breeders there also sold on.

USA also has Killifish group but at the time the only place which carried the impossible to find eggs was the UK .

Ahhh protects you from sun .

I went bald by 30 , lol but still garden , etc with no hat as can’t stand them .

Well thank goodness it’s cooled down a bit since the weekend! I’ve been in a music room teaching all morning and I don’t think I would have been able to bear it if it was like Saturday or Sunday!

You are well travelled Bes, respect.

Thank you, Mr Spitfire. It was mostly project engineering and lots of places - from South Africa, Taiwan, Malesia, Orient Express…etc

The heatwave of 1976 can’t have been that bad, it doesn’t even get a mention in my journal… :009:

lol very much so

Air moving around in the home seems healthy.
Screens are open now and evening air aplenty.
Will be this way as long as evenings are around 75F or a lil lower.

I bought a Dreo™ remote controlled tower fan for the bedroom. Fairly quiet for the amount of air it blows out. It has 6 speeds. Number 1 is sufficient at night. Number 6 is more noisy as expected but it’s like a strong wind. Enough to start lifting the summer duvet. Great for a quick cool off though. Fantastic might be a pun but it has been one of my better buys this year in view if the night time temperatures we’ve had.

No fan for me …if it’s too warm I just throw everything off.

Back to 1976. It was bliss. I loved hot weather then now I just wilt. It didn’t seem so humid back in those days just lovely scorching sunshine.

The humidity here in Miami is unreal but that does not bother me EXCEPT if outside in garden after roughly 2 pm as mid 90s and unreal humidity is unpleasant .

They call it liquid air .
