In NSW you have to renew your licence in person at a ServiceNSW outlet.
My only objection is that, unlike the old RTA, they no longer print out the licence while you wait, they just give you a bit of paper to carry and post the licence out to you. It’s a backward move in my opinion

Surrendered mine after 57 years.
A very simple reason why, seen too many killed or with life changing conditions by drivers with drink or drug related conditions.
I had never driven with too much alcohol, never had driven with drugs.
My medical condition meant I was on substantial amounts of Morphine. so not willing to take the risk.
Not driving has had a very detrimental effect on my independence, but that is life.
I am now on end of life drugs as well as the Morphine.
Far better to die happy, knowing that you haven’t destroyed a life than be selfish and take the risk.
It would be fair to say that I would take the chance if the only risk was to Trump.

I was 17 when I passed my driving test, and I’ll be 70 later this year so almost 53 years. In that time I’ve had 2 Insurance claims, the first when I had my car stolen and the other while I was working as a Courier and someone ran into the back of my Van, which was a Long Wheel Base High Top Mercedes Sprinter so it definitely wasn’t a case of they didn’t see it.
That’s a good driving record RCS considering the time a courier spends on the road.
I was also a self employed courier for ten years (the best job I ever did) but had two claims on my insurance. Two lorries overtaking each other on the M62 left me with no room to avoid a discarded lorry tyre in the fast lane…
The second was when I ran into the back of a ford Focus on the A34 near Oxford. The traffic queue was shunting forward at 5 mph and I rolled into the back of the Focus while fiddling about with the radio…I liked to listen to Jeremy Vine…
I’ve had my current driving licence for a whole 5 years. A French one to replace my out of date UK licence (well the card was past its 10 year limit). There was a farce after the geniuses managing the UK withdrawal agreement from the EU forgot to add in the reciprocal exchange of licences as part of the agreement. So for 6 months it was not possible to exchange a UK licence for a French licence. That meant for 3 or 4 months I was driving in France on an out of date licence. It also meant that I could not hire a car in the UK as my licence was … out of date. I drove very carefully for those 3-4 months as I’m sure the police would issue more than a simple fine for driving without a valid licence…
