How does everyone deal with the Black Dog

I have mentioned that I get the occasional visit from the black dog and wonder how others deal with it. I tend to allow 24 hours to feel sorry for myself, binge watch favourite TV programmes or films and overdose on junk food. I then give myself a stern talking to and try to ignore the little sh…sugar plum!

Churchill famously called his bouts of depression visits from the black dog. But then Churchill made some tough and some bad decisions that caused many thousands of deaths. Arguably his actions also saved many more.
So most of us don’t have such a burden to cast a serious black cloud over us. Phew. But that is not to dismiss anyone feeling down as shallow. Mostly my route to address feeling down is (1) walk the dogs - neither are black, (2) treat myself to a nice meal out, (3) get together with friends. Often ‘3’ is combined with 1 or 2.

Not being familiar with the term “Black Dog”. Can now see it embraced, circa 2yrs ago .

Solution Avoid. Lest Depression and its consequences, drown one’s PNA.

I can see your point about social media being one cause for depression by some. Even the day to day news can be very depressing.
But an ad for a deodorant? Just because the ad say and shows the word “balls”? How on earth is that either offensive or depressing? I think its inspired product promotion - if you wash you do not need to also add in a deodorant. But they are making people think that you do! Clever. That’s not depressing, that is funny. Although, now that I think about it, maybe it is a bit depressing that people will be so gullible that they go by the deodorant for their boy bits.

Go to bed, binge 3 or 4 episodes of Escape to the County on iPlayer, the Mrs is saying, ‘I’d paint that room red’, ‘I’d build a summer house down by the river’, ‘that room would be amazing with a Juliet balcony overlooking the courtyard’. With a head full of dreams all your problems are meaningless.

Horses for Courses.
Incidentally The odour comment referred to Offensive not Depressing.
If some needs a Graphic Clip. Clambering to smell another’s private’s. To be influenced which deodorant suits there Purpose/Intentions & Pleasantries. So be IT!!
