I remember Howard very well - wouldn’t it be great if all bank cashiers were like him?
I would use my bank more often if they were, and it might even stop high street banks from closing down if we all used them regularly again.
Me thinks it has gone past that opportunity - I read that Halifax is going to disappear completely. Not just the branches, but the names, the accounts, everything.
May as well stop paying the Credit Card now then.
She is celebrating her own redundancy
All the Halifax branches will become Lloyds i believe, without closing any branches.
But there are less banks on the high street these days - my bank seems to be doing very well, while others continue to disappear.
I really do not enjoy keeping up with technology.
I am a person of simple interests and the constant upgrades etc, drive me crazy.
My bank ? I rarely need to visit it. Now and again, if I need cash, I use a cashpoint.
Lots of folk have lots have faith, that their bank is actually still there ![]()
Yes, no doubt - my sister is one of them !
There is a lot going on lately, and folks have no choice but to accept it, a strange set of affairs.
Don’t worry, they will eventually take away our ability to get involved in any of the technology. It will just be imposed on us without us seeing any of the background processes.
I was sitting on the train today watching all the people with their phones thinking that we have just sleepwalked into a situation where we are being made totally reliant on little tracking devices that we have embraced. That people are sitting there not realising what they are holding in their hands. They are now linking up all the bank finances behind the scenes so that when I want to pay for something on my phone it already knows the number of my credit card and it’s also asking me if I want it to save the security code. There’s some new AI update when I restarted my phone today which I found creepy. But what choice is there? the modern world is forcing us into being shackled to these blasted plastic tagging devices.
nail on head, hit
As it happens I rarely use my phone. I mostly use text. Like here.
For now, but you will end up being forced to in the near future. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to avoid particularly as they now use phones for digital ID
I used to my phone regularly especially in my car - I did travel quite a lot then. That was decades ago. Now I still use technology but avoid verbal discussions. Part of this because of my hearing.
I did notice one sight had my card security number and I never gave it to them.
I mostly pay with card, but like to have some cash on me for emergencies - a habit i can’t seem to break.
I will only use the cash machine inside my bank - less chance of it being ‘tampered’ with than a cash point in the street.
Yes, we the cash machine inside our local store.
I remember working on ATM accounting many moons ago and the cash machines in stores or on the walls of stores used to be charged a commission. Others charge a fee for withdrawals for that reason. The idea is that of course you are drawn to the business for the ATM use and buy something. It was painstaking work in terms of the finances. Probably all automated or AI accounting these days. One of the worst memories of my accountancy training.
I don’t know where to put this …
