How do you deal with nosy busybody people?

Possibly so but the answer is stall the same - my business, not theirs.

I once knew a person like that. I laughingly said to her ‘You want to know a lot don’t you’

It stopped her in her tracks. She laughed & said ‘Yes I am a bit nosy’

She was ok after that

People aren’t nosy in my country and asking questions related to finances is considered very brazen and vulgar here.

Even making assumptions about one’s financial situation is considered extremely arrogant and impolite hereabouts.

In general though, I can’t guide you as I’m far too polite with people. I’m not very direct.

If people are rude and not have the manners not to ask personal questions that are simply not relevant to the conversation or the relationship, I don’t feel obliged to answer with anything but a quick gaze at them and say, " It’s not a question that has any place in our conversation."
That usually takes care of it.
