How do you celebrate birthdays?
How do you make your birthday meaningful?
Hello Maggie,may I say welcome.
I try to forget my birthdays.
Wow, welcome, you must be our first member from China
I am afraid I am like @Psmith I don’t celebrate birthdays though my kids do make an effort but for the milestone birthdays ending with an “0” I have been a long away from home.
Recently they did celebrate one at Camerons Corner when we were travelling together in 2021 and last year I was in Malaysia celebrating it with friends.
Welcome to the forum Maggie!
I’ve never felt the need to celebrate my birthday, even when I was younger. I’m just a bit of a misery I guess
welcome Maggie, enjoy the forum, be aware though, matron is strict on bedtimes and lights out
Birf’days, erm do we still have them since Brexit
Hi Maggie; Welcome To The Forum
I don’t do anything special; sometimes go out for supper with my boyfriend.
Hello Maggie and welcome .
I plan my day and celebrate in the way I like which is nice beach dog walks and maybe an outing to my favourite cafe for coffee and cake .
I bold and underline the date on the spreadsheet.
I, personally, would have ignored them completely but it’s the others who remind me. That said, I tend to appreciate those days more the older I get. In contrast to earlier birthdays I now feel a need to make myself aware that from a certain age there’s actually something to celebrate and that’s the fact that I’m still alive.
Humm, a long fife or a slow death, fill the glass and seal it with a lid
Hello Maggie and welcome.
I do like a nice Chinese Lunch: crispy duck maybe. Lots of dishes to share. A bottle of beer.
I dont normally , but Ive booked a Theatre trip for my coming birthday ,I decided its time to make something of my Birthday ,
Our daughter always sends a card but none of the other family members do. I might get a text message from them. All very low key unless the Birthday ends with a ‘0’. Then it becomes a big family occasion when everyone tries to get here.
I don`t,i receive gifts and cards from family and friends, that suits me just fine.
I was pleased when in lockdown no-one could come in and make a fuss for my 60th,but they did come to the front door with a cake etc.
I don’t and never really have. My parents never bothered too much with it when i was growing up, so i guess birthdays passed me by. I guess you don’t miss what you never had and now it’s meaningless.
Sad, Graham. Birthdays are for children.
A few Shandys and visits from loads of my grandkids and family.
I’ve never quite thought about it like that before!
