On September 16th 1985 Kate Bush released Hounds Of Love, probably her most famous and acclaimed album. It managed to enter the UK album chart at #1 and peak at #30 in the US (although it would eventually reach 12 in the US in 2022). 4 Top 40 hits eventually charted from it and it’s spent 68 weeks on the UK album Chart.
For me, Kate Bush is one of the UK’s greatest artists and maybe one of the less recognised artists. She rebelled against what her record wanted her to do for publicity and no doubt the commercial set up of the contract. She ended up ditching it all and hiding away.
I’ll admit not every album track is brilliant, but the brilliant one’s are outstanding.
It feels like a major talent was underdeveloped and under supported - thanks UK music industry.
