A woman and husband, on holiday in Spain. have died in their hot tub because the husband got stuck on the suction outlet.
His wife tried to save him.
Neither of them drowned. It seems the exertion from their struggles caused cardiac arrest.

Anyone here got a hot tub or tried one?
I’ve always fancied one.
Never fancied one personally, even less so now…
There’s also the danger of being poached…
Many years ago for a Christmas treat I rented a house in Perthshire which had an outdoor hot tub and an indoor steam room. Both were excellent for a very chilly Scottish winter. The real treat was sitting in a very warm tub, under the stars with a bottle of something fizzy.
It was dangerous of course - the decking around it was frosted and quite slippy.
Not if there’s a risk of being sucked down a large plughole, or worse.
What a terrible thing to happen to this couple.
I’m guessing that this a freak accident, the exception rather than the norm, not that I’m budgeting for a hot tub

There does seem to be a few freakish accidents just lately though.
Wasn’t there that guy who nearly got sucked out of that aeroplane window …
And the young woman who was bungey jumping and died when the instructors in charge simply threw her off the cliff without checking her safety line was attached.
I think there have always been quite a few freak accidents, they are just reported more these days because of social media. Fairgrounds have a long list of fatalities.
The thing about accidents is that you don’t see them coming, no matter how well prepared you are, there’s a kind of irony.
I dunno Chilli, every time I injure myself, I seem to think “I knew that was going to happen”, that’s not ironic, that’s stupidity

A senior teacher, in a school I worked in, was walking down a corridor whilst engrossed in something he was reading, and fell down a hole which was opened by some workmen fixing some heating pipes. He wasn’t hurt. But his role included being the school’s designated health and safety officer.

I’ve never fell foul of a hot tub, but I have been ‘sucked in’ on a few occasions…
I use one 5 days a week. Mon - Fri after doing my 50 Lengths. There’s 2 of them both on a ten minute cycle, one on one off. Some people jacuzzi hop and chase the bubbles but I don’t, ten minutes is enough for me. There’s no sucking anywhere in the tubs that I know of, just bubbles blowing out of the wee holes, I’ve been in many jacuzzis over the years, so I really don’t understand that article.

They talk about ‘Outlet’ surely the clue is in the name. No sucking from an 'outlet…
