Well at least you showed appreciation for his efforts. Poor guy has likely been run off his feet all day. 
I actually did a similar job a good fifteen years ago and it was quite a hard job then but now with so much online shopping and people wanting cheap delivery prices it has become a nightmare of a job. Of course most of these guys are self employed and have quite a bit of expenses before they can even think of a wage. Horrible job now though that does not excuse some of the antics the drivers can and do get up to.
