Hello!

Hi I’m Susan.

I’ve joined looking for advice on exercising with arthritis (only just starting, symptoms mainly get bad when temps drop under 10 degrees) to keep it at bay. Also have mild neuro issues (some permanent, some come and go in ‘attacks’ like episodic?)

I’m looking at surviving on a much lower income as my ESA will be ending soon. So currently trying to get any expensive mobility equipment I may need/household furniture etc before my money ends, as I understand housing benefit is now part of the universal credit thing not a separate benefit so have been told my rent won’t get paid until they have decided whether I can could get UC? (not sure if there is an age limit on it? I’m early 50’s)

Also interested in cheap vegetarian/vegan meals that can be cooked on a camping stove if necessary (as rural and often get powercuts in winter if there’s snow/storms). Probably won’t be able to afford meat by next year!

I like adult colouring books or watercolour when my hands aren’t too swollen/painful. I have an old collie called Jess. She was a rescue from a puppy farm so not sure of her exact age, (vet thought she was around 6-8 roughly). She has arthritis too from quite young so we can do our gentle exercises together and keep each other company as we try and age gracefully!

That’s all I can think of for now and Jess is nudging me to remind me it’s time for our daily constitutional!

Susan

Wow Susan that’s quite an introduction…

Welcome to the forum, I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

Hi Susan

Welcome to the forum.

Hopefully you can get some answers, there are some very helpful people on here and quite a few are from ‘up North’ too so you might understand their accents.:lol:

Hi Susan.
Welcome. I’m not from up north as you can see but I’m still friendly!

Have a great time here. It’s a nice bunch of people here.

Welcome Susan (I’ve got a ‘Susan’ daughter  )
My wife has problems with arthritis and she belongs to a Tai Chi for arthritis group which she has found very beneficial. Apart from the physical benefits she has made good friends in the group, which is good because we only moved to this town last year. I go too although I don’t have problems myself.

Hello Susan  a warm welcome to Over50sForum.

Hello Susan, I’m from ‘up North’ too and I’m sure we would all like to help if we can. Just try and keep mobile (but you probably already know that) and to help with the income situation, have you tried the ‘Citizens Advice’ they are particularly good at making sure you get the benefits that you should be getting…All the best Susan and hope to read you around the forum…

Hi

Thanks everyone.

Sorry if introduction is too long I had no idea what to write and whether admin would want to know why I’d joined …lol!

I get started then don’t seem to know when to stop! just pass me the gaffer tape if I talk too much on posts!

Hi Susan and welcome, hope you enjoy your time on here. I’m sure some on here will probably have experienced similar problems as yourself, so can share any advice with you.

No need to apologise Susan, you are just the sort of person we need on the forum…;-);-)

Is there a way to see all your posts or replies to other posts in a list? …As I’ve answered a couple and can’t remember where to go back to them for a couple!

Thanks

Welcome from me too.
I thought your introduction was pitched about right.
We often get new members who seem to be very reticent about who they are or what they do.

There a bunch of good folks on here and you have already been given good advice. Keep the questions/responses coming.

I ‘subscribe’ to all the posts I write or reply to Susan, in that way they will be emailed to you when another comment is made…

Look in ‘Control Panel’ and select ‘email options’…
You can tick the box ‘Instant email Subscription Mode’…Simples…

Thanks!

Hi Susan, nice to have you aboard.
