Hello all!

Hi folks, sorry my nick name is confusing; me ‘Uncle Mo’ with ‘Uncle Joe’. I’ve had the nick name for around 35 years. As I mentioned elsewhere I was given it as a bus driver when the garage learned the new recruits were my neice and nephew. I really love the nickname, even some of my passengers said mornin’ Uncle Mo. I wasn’t quite so keen on Mogga which is what I was called as a kid.

It was my fault Uncle Mo … and I wont do it again  Honest … But when your as daft as and as blind as a bat and your woken in the middle of the night …there is no hope for me at all really:cry:
Still I hope you understood my explanation?

Hi Richard and Welcome here - any idea why Freeview breaks up ?
I thought problem would be solved when we went over to Freeview…

Thank you for your welcome! I am usually an intermittent visitor to forums.

Is your Freeview breakup tied to any particular channel or time of day or night?

Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT or Freeview) Set Top Boxes (STBs) usually have an option in the menu to show the signal strength and quality. Breakup can be caused by many things, first you need to establish you have a good signal.

How was your analogue picture? Was it clean, no noise (snow)? That’s an indication of the signal path from your transmitter. Has Freeview always broken up or is it just recently?

The more common causes of breakup are aerials blown off pan in strong winds, water getting into the aerial lead, local interference like fridges, central heating pumps. The weaker the signal the more these localised effects can cause hiccups.

Hi Nobaggage, now don’t you worry, I also tend to make errors, so I forgive you graciously. That’s nice innit. Yes indeed it’s not to bad on here, beginning to get a hang of things.

Hi Richard, thanks for your response…

  1. Not a particular time, but mainly the BBC channels…
  2. Signal strength is good…
  3. Picture broke up before Freeview, so we waited for Freeview to improve things - it has not…
  4. We live in a block of flats, we had a ‘new’ aerial fitted a few months back thinking it may be that - it was not - so, a lot of us have now purchased Freesat, it seems the rest will have to follow… Thanks again…Pats
