Have you taken any acid suppression medicines?

Gluten free diet for non celiacs is a marketing fad.

You clearly do not know what you are talking about. Several studies highlight gluten (and wheat) as a potential problem in many different illnesses.

Autism

Fibromyalgia

Type 1 diabetes

Depression

Ataxia

Even Schizophrenia

And many, many more.

I donā€™t understand the english in this statement - can you re-phrase??

arenā€™t you both claiming the same thing?? - the english on this site is definitely getting worse!

I will take Autism first as I have had a long day.

A Gluten free diet could certainly be beneficial to an autistic child with a GI disorder as it would a none autistic child.

Fixed:

Oh what a tangled legacy
when first we dabble in gluten free
It works for some
not everyone
Beware of info which deceives.

Fibroyialgia

Anyone suffering with fibromyalgia who is gluton sensitive would also benefit from a gluton free diet.

Just thought I would just dive in to say that I have been on Omeprazole for about six months now and have had no problems. If Iā€™m not on it I get very bad heartburn and acid.

Diving out now

I was on omeprazole for over a year before I got symptoms, so thereā€™s still timeā€¦

Thatā€™s good Alicatā€¦I hope that you continue to be symptom free.

Thanks Pats

Look up Mastic Gum Twiz - I did so and was impressed by what I read - ordered the capsules today ā€¦

I have to stop taking my medication for a week before my endoscopy, this usually results in acid with blood coming up especially at night. If I can manage without them for a week I wonā€™t take them again. I get fed up with doctors saying ā€œTry this and seeā€¦ā€ Iā€™ve decided to make them find out exactly what is wrong before I try any more treatment, perhaps then I may get some sort of proper help.

I hope you do ok on them too Alicat. Unfortunately thatā€™s rarely the case imo - have a read of some of the links I posted in this thread

Patsy - which brand did you order? You can also get Mastic beads - and use them like chewing gum (great for your mouth and dental health)

Twiz - let us know how you get on!

I agree - fed up with that phrase too
Just a mention for you to keep the mastic gum in mind for the future - its about time you were diagnosed - keep on track and stay feisty till they do ā€¦

The name is ā€˜Mastikaā€™ mastic gum, they are capsules, did a lot of research first, these are highly rated.
Bought mainly for my husband who has had ulcers, although I will try also

Yeo they are pretty good. Jarrow and Allergy Research are good brands too.

Itā€™s also easy to make your own - just buy the beads (from ebay/Greece) and grind them in a pestle and mortar

Me pestle and mortar days are over Azz :-p
BTW - Jarrow brand were not rated ā€¦

I was advised by my practise nurse to cut down on my medication. I halved the dose. Iā€™ve ended up feeling worse. I didnā€™t realise how much they helped me. I had awful heartburn last night, followed by vomitting during the night. I rarely have heartburn, or vomitting, but it made me feel so rough. Iā€™ve upped the dose again and will go and see the nurse to discuss it with her. Old age doesnā€™t come itself
