Have you forgotten more than you now know?

Memories fade then disappear. I have forgotten so much of my past experiences that I posit I have forgotten more than I now know.

The Simpsons seemed to have covered so many life events it astounds me .

How would I know if I have forgotten it?

I can recall being so young that I wasn’t yet able to walk, and being very frustrated about it. Nothing is forgotten. A hypnotist could get you to describe any of your memories, including ones that you’d convinced yourself you’ll never fully recall.

So hypnotists have all the answers, there ain’t half been some clever bastards

Noel Coward was a charmer.
As a writer he was brahma.
Velvet, jackets and pyjamas,
had a gay divorce and other dramas.

There ain’t half been some clever bastards
(Lucky bleeders, lucky bleeders)
There ain’t half been some clever bas-tards.

Van Gough did some eyeball pleasers.
He must have been a pencil squeezer.
He didn’t do the Mona Lisa,
That was an Italian geezer.

There ain’t half been some clever bastards
(Lucky bleeders, lucky bleeders)
There ain’t half been some clever bas-tards.

Einstein can’t be classed as witless.
He claimed atoms were the littlest.
When you did a bit of splitting-em-ness
Frighten everybody shitless

There ain’t half been some clever bastards.
Probably got help from their mum
(who had help from her mum).
There ain’t half been some clever bastards.
Now that we’ve had some,
let’s hope that there’s lots more to come.

There ain’t half been some clever bastards
(Lucky bleeders, lucky bleeders)
There ain’t half been some clever bastards.

Okey-dokey!
Oh!
Segovia.
Da-laa la-laa da-daa da-lee
De dump di dump de dump-dump-diddle li-lee.

There ain’t half been some clever bastards
(Lucky bleeders, lucky bleeders)
There ain’t half been some clever bastards
(Lucky bleeders, lucky bleeders)
There ain’t half been some clever bastards
(Lucky bleeders, lucky bleeders)
There ain’t half been some clever bastards.

Since it can’t be measured and is just a gut feeling, I don’t think I have beyond natural loss or what may be called a reorganisation of past events based on the things one is interested in. For one thing, because I often dwell on the past and, for another, writing my memories has helped me to refresh my knowledge and experiences of the past. Been to several class reunions and noticed that I remembered more details than many of my class mates. Some seem to deliberately repress the memory of the past.
