Has Farage made too many (greedy) mistakes?

To sum it up … Farage won an empty victory which proved nothing. He still has to account for some shifty looking financial ‘gifts’.

Even he knew it was an empty victory as he didn’t attend the byelection result as it was read out … and so missed giving a victory speech
But I suspect the real reason was the embarrassing spectacle of been photographed with his rivals … a bin …

That is a contradiction in terms Lincs…
I don’t believe in either, but the evidence suggests that there is something going on.
I have an open mind about God…
Scientists actually work on the same principle, they can only really assume something is there because of the disturbance around it, or the effect it has on something else…Take for example a black hole. They only know it’s there because of it’s effect on the light around it.

It proved nothing?..Except that he obtained a great deal of support from the people, what more would a politician want Morty?

Retaining the vote of committed Reform fans, in the face of no serious alternative, really proves very little. I note that the parliamentary standards inquiry is re-opened. So what did this by-election achieve?

It raised the profile of Count Binface :icon_wink:

It gave me a warm fuzzy feeling like I am not the only one who supports Reform…

I remember that your view of the benefit of Brexit was it gave you a warm, fuzzy feeling. And now the achievement of Farage winning in about the most Reform seat in the UK, against no-one, is limited to you getting another warm fuzzy.
Of course we must, ultimately, make decisions based on what we view as the most positive choice. However, many people take a wider view of what is positive. You know, economically good for the country, or socially good, or wealth generating good, or future prospects good. Things beyond our immediate, personal good feeling. Things based on assessing the options and the consequences. But you do you and stick with warm fuzzy in your tummy…

A reputation for honesty …integrity … I could go on but Farage would meet none of the criteria.

It certainly did … and he’s rather an attractive man without his metal accroutrements. I wouldn’t kick him out of bed.

Intriguing!

Perhaps we need a Countess Binface!?
I have an enquiring mind …

Not my work but identifies the a key point - people do often vote emotionally. And that many people have a very low expectation of what their local MP will actually do for them.

That is a lot of spondulicks, if I had that much disposable, I would have so many unfinished projects, it would be unimaginable

Could you name one please :grinning:

One in four Clacton voters preferred a man wearing a bin on his head to their local MP.

I thought it was actually a bin…

Count Binface would have won but his policies were rubbish

Yes but Clacton have still ended up with a recycled MP.

Have you people heard yourselves, the people who voted for binface have taken intelligence to a new low and should have their right to vote taken away.
It makes a mockery of the voting system and just goes to show how dispirited people are with the current system and it’s representatives.

But Foxy, don’t you think Farage himself had already stuck up the V’s to the voting system by using it as some kind of publicity stunt to rescue his career?

I think Burnham did pretty much the same by manipulating the system too if it helps.
