Hi, have any of you used the Olio app? I am currently in love with this fantastic arrangement. You can list food you were going to throw away or items you were planning to take to the rubbish dump or bin and people message you to say they will come to pick up.
The best thing is that so many people are happy to have things that we take for granted.
I’ve given away a little left over food from a recent barbeque (some Mr Kipling tarts, crackers and unopened juice someone bought). People are so happy to have a package which is opened that night but only part eaten. I hate food waste so it’s fabulous to be able to share.
But mostly I’ve been giving away things that I am clearing out. The biggest items were the running machine bought during covid and the rowing machine. They were both sitting there taking up space and neglected for the past year and a half. Bedside cabinets, old armchairs and footrests, Recently people have been delighted to have my old dinner plates, mix and match cups that have been clogging up the kitchen cupboards, I’ve even given away old shower curtains, an old printer, cat basket and a lovely cat bed (that the cat ignores)
The best thing is that people come to you so it’s minimal effort.
It makes me a sad how tough it is for some people out there, because they will travel for a few miles to get something most of us take for granted for free.
I can’t believe you gave away Mr Kipling Tarts Annie…
Have you taken leave of your senses…?
Bruce’s is right about those foul tasting ‘Oreos’ and I thought this thread was about those too…
Rolling tobacco, I haven’t smoked for years but I remember my buddy Gary Hogan introducing me to this particular brand of tobacco in the school playground… cosmic…
Beggars can’t be choosers Annie…But I know what you mean, I used to be a regular visitor to Bakewell…The White peak and Dark peak district were my stomping ground…
I think it fills a gap as most of the stuff wouldn’t be taken by a charity shop, plus they wouldn’t come to collect. Their main thing is free food, which is great all round.
The Peak district is my favourite place in England. Ive also done a fair bit of stomping oop and down admiring the view. I hope they still do the well dressings.
