Most of us really do not need a VPN but more info here.

I use VPN a lot. As not only does it give me privacy, but more importantly it means I can see content geo blocked to the UK. So for example, years ago, before better options came along, I could listen to Pandora, despite it being geo blocked in the UK.

If you care to do some research [minimal] on google you will find sites that list all the major VPN providers how good they are and what costs are involved there is even a free one for one year called Tunnel Bear

Hi

No VPN for me, it is like waving a red flag, here I am.

You need to carefully choose your VPN, the business models for the free ones are often to collect your data and sell it.

Some of the paid ones are closely linked with various Governments.

Are you using public wifi Tabs? … accessing the net on your phone in a public place? If not, I’m not sure you need VPN.

I have used both the free & the paid for TunnelBear & it is very good. Except that it does not work for TV. And if anyone wants a vpn for online use, then Opera has a very good free one, you simply click the vpn button in the search bar to use it.

If encryption is the root of the “safety” offered by these VPN companies, it might be wise to wait to see if the Government proposals remove that security.

I think that, if encryption is where all the baddies go to hide what they are doing, why would I move into that area?

I used to use AVG’s VPN (part of it’s paid for internet security package) when I was in Malaysia so I could watch BBC News when I needed a fix of home-grown bovine droppings.
