What a grand old soldier .
The world is poorer for his passing .
RIP Harry. Seemed a real character.
We were just talking about this. Our immediate reaction was ‘oh no, how sad!’. But in reality he lived to a ripe old age, and the wonderful thing is he lived long enough to see the results of his life long campaign for a memorial to the fallen soldiers of the Normandy beaches. I will never forget the moment he’d spent so many years dreaming of - that moment when he returned to Gold Beach to see the memorial for which he’d spent so much of his life fundraising.
A true gentleman, a wonderful human being. Rest in peace sir.

A gentleman of honour - the pals he left behind on the beaches would have been proud of him; he never gave up fighting to keep the memory of them alive and achieved his goal.
