**St Urho’sDay is celebrated on March 16th , the day prior to the better known feast of some minor saint from Ireland, who was alleged to have driven the snakes from that island. The legend of St Urho says he chased the grasshoppers out of ancient Finland, thus saving the grape crop and the jobs of Finnish vineyard workers.
Has he had his shins removed?
Oh my goodness, Happy St Urho’s day Furry Animal xxx
But when I first looked at that photo quick, I thought he had a baby on a spear!
My initial thoughts was that he’d fallen out of a balloon
We really must look closer next time!
But maybe he just looked like that
There’s a statue of Brunel in Bristol that makes him look out of proportion but apparently he really did have a huge head compared to his body
I think St Patrick must have a better publicity agent than St Urhos and it doesn’t seem quite fair, he sounds like a great saint
Maybe it’s because there’s traditionally more alcohol involved in St Patrick’s day?
And diddly dee music
Love a bit of that……my fave….
Thought he was a hobbit .
I think even I could manage vanquishing a grasshopper. Not that I would want to.
He was a genius ,full of brains !
He was only 5 feet tall .
Saint Euro surely?
