Anybody else not know it was St, George’s Day today? I didn’t know until it was mentioned by a local radio presenter. Why don’t we celebrate this day as much as the Irish celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, the Welsh St. David’s Day and the Scottish St.Andrew’s Day?

I celebrate it Sheila, but there are many English people left who are proud to be English…

There is an event in Town tomorrow, stalls, music etc. I’ll be going along with an analogue camera or two. Might even post a couple of mobile piccies on the forum! ![]()

Isn’t St George a Greek or something Southern European? I am sure he is the patron saint of several countries

You’re probably right. He’s also the patron saint of Bulgaria and Portugal.

Which surely proves that flying the St. George flag should not be taken as a racist act!

It would not have been racist in 1959.
