I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a Widow’s Walk, although there is a very faint bell tinkling in the deep and darkest depths of the mush that is my brain! :lol:

No, the faint tinkling was wrong. I have never heard of it… it’s an American thing…

“Widow’s walk, also known as a widow’s watch or roofwalk, is a railed rooftop platform often with a small enclosed cupola frequently found on 19th-century North American coastal houses.

I’d never heard of Widow’s Walk either. It was a guess from the letters, and a trip to Googled explained it!

These widows walks were used along the eastern coast of the US. Also, inland in my area (middle of the Six Indian Nations) smaller versions were placed on the house to spot indian attacks on our settlers. A bit of American history for you.
