Who was the first person to circumnavigate the globe?

Not too sure of the answer, Judd …

I was always led to believe that Ferdinsnd Magellan the first person to have circumnavigated the globe.

However, Juan Sebastian Elcano took control of the expedition after Magellan’s death in 1521 and may deserve the true credit for being the first person to circumnavigate globe.

The credit for the achievement was given to Enrique of Malacca who was cheated out of the proceeds of Magellan’s will part of which was to grant him his freedom. Enrique was essential to the successes of the voyage as he could speak several languages and converse with the natives they encountered on the voyage. It was for this reason that he was rewarded by Magellan’s will and why he disappeared before the full journey was completed. His fellow crew mates had no intention of honouring the will and were going to bond him in slavery once again. (Talk about ungrateful :slight_smile: )
