They’re all early forms of time keeping. The incense sticks were used in ancient China and India as they were more reliable than candles which had a tendency to blow out.

Water clocks superseded the use of the above in late BC/early AD and some are still in operation today in some middle eastern countries.

Bells of course were rung on the quarter hour and the hour like they still are today.
