Hammer's odds 'n' ends

Peaceful music to enjoy and the video is not bad either.
Lavender Shadows

George matey, Martello down this neck of the woods refers to large stone towers built to defend the coastal towns at the time of the Napoleonic wars. Some of them are on land but there are a couple of fine examples out in the Channel around Portsmouth.

A small drop of Simon & Garfunkel to hum along to.
“Kathy, I’m lost” I said, though I knew she was sleeping
“I’m empty and aching and I don’t know why…”
Counting the cars on the New Jersey turnpike
They’ve all gone to look for America
All gone to look for America

America

Thanks for that, Hammer, I do like Simon & Garfunkel:-D

Not normally to my taste but I do love a good sing song. Apparantly the Largest Ever World Male Voice Choir

[URL=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXYVHXHcFts”]Jacobs Ladder and Soldier’s Chorus

George matey, I loved it!!! - fabulous - wasn’t so keen on Jacobs Ladder, but the Soldiers Chorus from Gounod’s Faust was excellent.

A little peace on a wild and wet Friday afternoon.

Michael Hoppe From the superb 2003 Album Import: Solace.

Beloved

Oh dear me Hammer you have done it again, I adore Male voice Choirs, they move me to tears, also Pipes . Living up here has been great as they have some spendid folk pipers, loosing the plot here slightly sorry have forgotten the name of the pipes, never mind I am sure you will know. Annie

Bagpipes Annie?

Annie, If you tell me which pipe music you want I will see what can be done.
In the meantime a bit more from the Largest Ever World Male Voice Choir In Wales.
Quite a good sound really, it must have been a nightmare to get everything right. By the look of some of the choir two fish and five loaves would not have gone very far.
And the bow tie makers had a field day.

A couple to enjoy.

Gwahoddiad

Were You There

A bit of nostalgia now for all the aged hippies.
This is from the 1969 double album Ummagumma released by Pink Floyd.
You need to have yer stereo speakers on especially at the ending.
Gotta split man.

Grantchester Meadows

Not SPLIT George matey, but SPLIFF, not that I’m allowed to puff that anymore either:cry:

A little bit of nonsense from Status Quo.
One of their live set pieces. Why is it in my collection? I just like it.
Gerundula

The offering to soothe you into Saturday evening comes this week from Jethro Tull, a band I have seen many times since that lazy afternoon at the Sunbury Jazz festival where they certainly woke us up.

This is from the 1975 album: Minstrel In The Gallery.

Requiem

Well, I saw a bird today — flying from a bush and the
Wind blew it away.
And the black-eyed mother sun scorched the butterfly
At play — velvet veined.
I saw it burn.
With a wintry storm-blown sigh, a silver cloud blew
Right on by.
And, taking in the morning, I sang — O Requiem.
Well, my lady told me, ``Stay.’’
I looked aside and walked away along the Strand.
But I didn’t say a word, as the train time-table blurred
Close behind the taxi stand.
Saw her face in the tear-drop black cab window.
Fading in the traffic; watched her go.
And taking in the morning, heard myself singing —
O Requiem.
Here I go again.
It’s the same old story.
Well, I saw a bird today — I looked aside and walked
Away along the Strand.

Paul Simon solo.

Graceland

Really enjoyed this Hammer. Have lots of Pink Floyd cds but not this one. I really like Roger Waters.

I see there are loads on YouTube and its such a shame as its always a challenge for me to watch YouTube due to having slow broadband!! The only way around it is let it play to the end with volume down and then play it again as all the buffering has been done :mrgreen:

Oooh this is one of my favourites of Simon & Garfunkel, so good to see the words as well even though I knew most of them

Hi Marian, I think I liked them from the Piper at the gates of dawn album onwards. They were an incredible band to see live even when some scaffolding was collapsing round us:lol:

The poor broadband supply is a real problem for many people in watching some videos especially with floyd live as they are quite long and large files to stream.

I will try to find some of the smaller ones to post.

Thanks Hammer. I haven’t got Piper at the Gates of Dawn, not heard of that one. One of my favourites is The Final Cut.

This is from perhaps one of the best Floyd albums.
Released in 1973: The Dark Side of the Moon.
It probably explains a lot about my taste in music.

Brain Damage

The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'till I’m sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There’s someone in my head but it’s not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon
