Hairdressers

Oh Swimmy, I hope you haven’t passed on your streaming cold to them!

Just got my hair cut today - hallelujah. Was walking around like Ken Dodd. Paid her double the usual price as there was two months worth of hair to get rid of. Feels a lot better now.

I am also shorn of my fleece, see Avatar. Went early this morning (0730am), to a really traditional old fashioned barber in town. Best tenner I’ve ever spent. Did’nt get offered, “Something for the Weekend Sir” But that’s alright, I already have the TV programme magazine for Saturday & Sunday!! :-):-)

I’m happy to wait although I’ve rung twice and got the answering machine .
. I have layered sleek locks which haven’t gone out of shape ,just got longer .

Saw this thread and thought, Oh shite, I have to phone my hairdresser for an appointment. So I did, and she can’t fit me in until the end of this month. I already look like an aged prog rocker with hair down past my shoulders so I passed on this and I’ll just have to find a barber’s in town asap.

Hairdresser appt a little different, just had to take my temperature and required to fill in form to say that I was ok, the PPE can get uncomfortable under dryer, with no mags to read a tedious 20 minutes.

I’m a happy bunny again! All went well at the salon, temperature taken on going in, filled in a NHS form which had to be dated, signed, name, address and telephone number. That was followed by sanitising hands and donning a face mask.

Everything was arranged perfectly, screens between clients and around the reception desk. Four stylists working, all wearing face shields and five clients being attended to. No cloth gowns, everything plastic throwaway.

I felt back in the world again, it made a lovely change going there

Given an appointment for 6 weeks time and if things get bad again with the virus, my stylist said she would phone me if there was any signs of another lockdown so that I could be ‘tidied up’ before that happened.

Barbers here open next week… But I did notice with the start of Football, which was before the Barbers… How most if not all the footballers were sporting trend hair styles.

Guess their girlfriends or wives are hairdressers…

I don’t think I will bother. I’ve been cutting my own hair in flattering layers that are now don’t look half bad. I’m quite pleasantly surprised that despite having highlights for years I have hardly any obvious greys and they are still so random that you’d only notice looking close. The colour is richer than I remember and still shiny. It’s been ten years since I last tried to grow my blonde highlights out. But I don’t know whether it’s down to no work commuting and eating differently but my hair is growing thicker and healthier than it has for years.

Some friends have been to the hairdresser and three out of four I have seen no difference or it actually looks worse. One looks fabulous as she’s had a change of style and colour. Yet another cut her own hair and it looks great. But some who have ventured to the salon have ended up needing colour corrections or a bad cut and I’m not too impressed with PPE variety in results. I’ve been complemented more than once on video chats about my hairstyle so DIY may be the next trend!

It’s funny but the friends who have gone grey actually looked great when they let the grey grow out. Lockdown has made it fashionable to bare your greys and one friend also found the break in colouring led to really healthy thick hair. I don’t think we realise just how damaging colouring may be to our health.

No way am I going grey. My hair is too fine & having it dyed to it’s natural colour, brown, makes it thicker.

My husband and I have no need of hairdressers, I use the clippers on our hair once a week.

:-pI haven’t been to a hairdresser for over 3 years…the last time I went she cut my ear with a razor, and I came home with a plaster on my ear, that was enough to put me off, now I cut my own…and hubbys too:-D

My friend and I recently visited a hairdresser and were very unhappy. Maybe we got a bad master.

Master? You sure he was really a hairdresser?

I have been growing my hair…been using my sons barber clippers to tidy up the back of my hair…well pleased.

After going to the hairdressers two weeks ago, my hair seems to have grown fast as I’m almost ready for another trim!

Got anything to tell us Mags!???:blush::blush:

Many women have changes in hair texture and growth during pregnancy. Hormones can make your hair grow faster and fall out less. … Extra hormones can make them grow faster and become stronger.

Gosh John, that would set a world record!

I’ll keep my fingers crossed, you never know I may be famous one day!

I already said that my friend and I recently visited a hairdresser and were very unhappy. Maybe we have a bad master. But the worst part is that I was going to have a wedding soon. Then I started looking for a good hairdresser to fix the situation. I found such a master. He was able to fix everything and make me a wedding hairstyle - [link removed, no link dropping allowed] At that moment, I was very happy.

A master?:104::017:
