Hello all!
I thought I’d take the plunge and join the OFF if I may?
Being fifty eight and a bit I’m pretty sure I qualify. The forum seems to cover a broad range of topics and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading the posts and look forward to indulging in some chat.
Oops…just a quick edit, somehow I’ve managed to post a grumpy emoji at the beginning of my post, purely unintentional.
Cheers!
Hi from the village idiot
Hi from the forum pig
Hi Westender and welcome, hope you enjoy your time on Over50sForum.
I see from your profile you know London well. Twenty-five or more years of my working life was spent working in London, mostly around Fleet Street, Tottenhham Court Road, Great Portland Street, Charlotte Street. I expect you know all of those areas?
A purry welcome from the forum Cat!
Hello Westender a warm welcome to Over50sForum…
Hello Paul welcome…
Thanks for the welcome guys!
And Baz46, I do indeed remember all those areas you mentioned very well.
Kenneth Williams used to live in Great Portland Street. On one occasion, back in 73 I was walking home from school with a classmate, the man himself was walking towards us, it was in Devonshire Street, just outside The Turkish Embassy. He obviously had noticed we’d recognised him, adopted a crouching posture and proceeded to pull comical faces. It really was like a scene from a Carry On film.
After twenty five + years working in London I’d imagine you’re a bit of a walking A to Z too!
Welcome from me, the grumpy old Scotsman…
Hello a Yorkshire lass here who used to work in London…hope you settle in ok …we are not a bad lot…welcome
Hi Westender
Welcome to the forum
Another here, who spent the first few years of my working life around Gt Portland Street and the West End in general. I’m out in the sticks now but the traffic is just the same.
Welcome ot OFF Westender from the forum’s prog rock dynosaur.
Thanks again for the Welcomes!
Not sure about being ‘a bit of a walking A to Z’ Westender. Those twenty-five years working in London were mostly spent in a deadline-driven industry, invariably meaning many hours at a computer keyboard to meet those deadlines.
Also mostly that was permanent night shifts too – unfortunately not much chance to see London as people usually see and remember the place!
Hi Westender & welcome
H&F/K&C dude here.
