Oh thank you Uncle Joe
That was a beautiful welcome - how lovely. Are you a classical music fan?
I was plying Beethoven today, I love it - and I needed a break from a Bach piece which has obsessed me for months…can’t pass the piano without playing it (good job I don’t have neighbours too close…and other half is out most days volunteering!) - it would drive him mad!
Well I am loving it here…lots of people to talk to.

Yes Lia darlin’ - I love classical music - particularly Opera. Have seen performances of Opera at the Bolshoi in Moscow, Ballet (not particularly my forte) at the Kirov in St: Petersberg. Have also seen performances in Prague. Theatre seats at the Royal Opera here in London are far too expensive!!!
Oh you have been to some wonderful places Uncle Joe. Did you just go to the opera or were you there living or working?
I have been to the Royal Opera house when I lived in London and you are right, it is not cheap! My older sister went to the opera in Verona for her 60th birthday last year, and loved it. So you were in Russia! I have always wanted to go, I love the architecture but I really love Russian literature.
I have never been to many Opera’s or ballets, although I like them, and I have great niece in the USA who is a ballerina, she just danced Giselle in NYC (only a little theatre as she is only 16) and spent the summer in St Petersburg.
A belated but sincere welcome to you Lia, like Mollie says they are all friendly and helpful people here.
Hello, and welcome from me too. Another opera fan here, although I don’t get the opportunity to go now. I went to Covent Garden once many years ago, and could only afford the cheapest seat high up at the back, but it was still a special experience.
And I’m just getting back to playing the piano, too!
But I was never a city girl…
Thank you Orangutan.
Well there are quite a few opera’s on TV (I have to have Sky here as only satellite works!) and concerts and ballets which I have enjoyed.
Wonderful that you are playing piano - did you stop for long? I started lessons when I was 4, and as far as I remember, I could read music before I could read words properly! I suppose I have always played, although I am not very good and would hate to play in public, but I love it and it is a great source of joy to me.
I have a huge fondness for Ireland and spent all my summers, Easters and Christmas’s there when I was young…in Dun Laoghaire and in Donegal.
A truly special place.
I am not a city girl any more! (well I am in training to be a country girl…)
Maybe you can help me!
Thank you again for the welcome.
