Goodnight and good morning GMT -5. I have to get up early to make my son his last (favorite) breakfast of homemade biscuits with gravy, hash browned potatoes, and omelets, before he is on his way back to university. How this summer has flown! http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/cook/hungry-kids.gif
May the clock speed through the worst part of your day and stand still for the best.
I can only imagine what my designation will soon be…I have been here less than two weeks and am already a Senior member? I am in big trouble…
When I peeled back the linens and pillows of my bed this evening, one of my dogs had left me a gift of a bone, covered with mud and debris, that must have been buried sometime last autumn. I nearly had a heart attack when I first saw it. Either they love me a lot and this was an act of generoisity, or this is akin to that whole horse head drama in “Godfather”. I’m looking at them right now as they feign nonchalance and innocence. I wonder what message they are trying to send .
Fun dreams for me! May all of your horses keep their heads and all the bones remain in your gardens.
I’ve squeezed the best bits out of Tuesday so I’m going to step over to the other side until tomorrow morning…Hope I have some nice dreams again like I did last night…Goodnight Forum Dwellers…
What a night for walking the dogs - aside from being entwined in leashes, deafened by happy barks, and nearly knocked over by four happy mutts! How beautiful the southern summer night sky is with the Milky Way shimmering it’s way across Sagittarius and Scorpius.
We spend our days filled with human endeavors, while this vast and ancient sky watches patiently from above, a sapphire witness to civilization below ( and yes, the stars did see what you did right there :-p:blush::-D). Isn’t it a humbling privilege to be alive and to be able to look up and see?
Sleep well, good dreams, and many starry nights to you all!
Funny that Surfermom, I too stepped out onto the drive last night before turning in, I do that sometimes, it’s so quiet and you get the realisation of the vastness of space, and I gazed up into a clear sky with a million stars twinkling back, each one possibly supporting a whole solar system similar to our own and I realised how insignificant I am…How we are…
Meanwhile, back on Earth, I’ve got my last eight mile run to do in the morning before I fly off on my jollies…So it’s goodnight from me, and goodnight from Mrs Fox…although she’s been out of it, asleep in her chair since Coronation Street…
It seems we have successfully managed to cling to Earth while she traveled another 1.6 million miles today. It felt good too - blue skies, warm temperatures, and flocks of pelicans in perfect formations over the gulf.
Safe travels to all tomorrow; my son to university, his twin sister to the hospital for another healing infusion, the Foxes off to Guernsey, Floydy’s wife for surgery, and everyone with “To Do” lists.
Assuming that the surface of the world rotates at approximately 1000 miles per hour, why is it that if an aeroplane travels at 1000 miles per hour East why doesn’t it stand still?
It won’t keep me awake tonight though…Goodnight All…Early night because Fox goes on tour tomorrow…
Earlier this evening the doorbell just rang. On the other side was a delivery boy with a pizza that I had not ordered. Come to find out, my son had reversed a bit of occasional fun I had last year of having pizza delivered to his dormitory.
His message read, “Thanks for a great summer, Mom. Life is short; eat pizza and have fun!”
“It was a dark night…they usually are” (Tommy Cooper beginning a ghost story)
Goodnight folks, and may all your troubles vanish like dreams in the morning.
There is a great blue heron just outside the door squawking his primitive night song. It is remarkable that such an unmelodious sound comes from such an elegant creature.
All of us who have slept with a snorer in the room understands exactly what I mean :-).
Just before sunset, I was at the nearby sportsplex and came across the purely enjoyable scene of two little twin boys, no older than four, and their conscientious dad on the field for some dedicated soccer (football) practice. The father was working so hard to set up drills and skill practice while the little guys, dressed up like the professionals all tucked in and matching, and running amok with glee.
I hope the dad knows that all those skills will come in time, and that in that moment, he was living one of the very best times of his life.
I also hope I’m not too focused on the wrong thing and can fully appreciate a great moment when it’s presented. If I am, I hope someone hits me in the head with a soccer ball.
That’s what memories are made from, you have the right outlook on life Surfer, take it from an old fella, happy memories are a great comfort to you when you are older.;-)
