I had planned on going a nice walk in the Derbyshire peaks today but had to put my plans on hold due to a clumsy accident last night. I was getting the car out of the garage & smashed the wing mirror.
I’ve got to go in search of somewhere to mend it for me. The electrics are all exposed, I need to get it done asap.
I might go to town on the bus later - I need a post office & we haven’t got one in our village now…
Got the remainder of my grass cut including the 600mm stuff, quite pleased with that as it was getting ridiculously long.
Took a trip to Bunnings to buy a grab rail which I have now fixed next to my back door (don’t need it at the moment but there is a step and the time will come). Who doesn’t love Bunnings? Mind you after every visit lately I have received a covid alert!
Wow, just gone 6pm and the sun is shinning, bit bloody late
Enjoy your day. Mine was relatively successful so happy with that.
Had a broken nights sleep again, but up early for the joiners coming to fix a cupboard door. Then I have paperwork to do and hopefully get things moving.
Its pouring with rain, and there is a cherry picker right outside my window moving up to the roof to fix something. Gosh they start early don’t they?!
Oh dear Carol. Hope you can get the car fixed soon.
I was out last night having joined a local writer’s group. I need to phone the computer shop today, see where he is with my laptop. Shall need it at the fortnightly meetings.
An easier day today, as yesterday I was whizzing about like a mad woman. Sis here earlier, into town, dog walks in between, hastily prepared and eaten meals, out early evening to a different vet, trying to find it in the dark, for Holly’s booster, and then back out in that fog, again, trying to find the house for the group meeting.
I was glad to get into bed! Phew.
I was worried about leaving H in the evening, as think it was the first time, but presume she just stayed and slept on my bed.
Good morning all, a cool breeze here and only 3°C but no frost or snow so no complaints
Back from walking the dogs now and having a brew. I have got to borrow my neighbour’s ladder later to take a look at the chimney cap, it was sealed many years ago but it looks like the frost is breaking up the cement so I may have to re-do it…
Morning everyone, bit dull and rainy today after two lovely sunshiny days. Nothing much planned today, just the usual pottering.
@carol I hope you get your wing mirror sorted soon. We have to park on the road, and my driver’s side wing mirror was hit recently, shattering the casing and leaving all the electrics exposed. Mr B had a good look at it, and is sure there’s no damage to the housing unit and the mirror itself, so he found a replacement cover on eBay, which is arriving on Friday. Hopefully he’ll be able to just fit it into place for me. It cost only £14.99. In the meantime I have covered it all up with double thickness black bin liner and lots of tape!
Just back from shopping at 12:30 and the landline phone rang.
“Hello, this is Ryan,” said an Indian guy, “I’m calling from Sky about your broadband speed which has been running slow for the past few days.”
“I’ve not noticed this,” said I, “I think this is a scam. Why are you calling?”
“No scam I assure you, your speeds are showing to be very slow,” (much noise and clattering in the background) he said, “Tell me, how many lights are there on your router?”
“4,” I said and hung up.
Just now I’ve been in touch with Sky’s technical chaps and he said I did the right thing because they would call me. He ran a health check from his end, found nothing wrong, and asked which speed checker I used (Which? and Broadband Speed Checker - both gave ~29Mbs download speeds). He said to try Speedtest by Ookla. So I did and got a download speed of 51.8Mbs.
Got another phone call this morning from “Sky”. Told them to go forth and multiply.
Our electrician came, installed the lights, which we supplied, and left. Took him nearly 3 hrs to do it and charged us £180 including connection boxes and a few other bits and bobs.
