Good Morning Wednesday 7th August 2024

Good morning all you forum friendlies.

It has been a busy morning, was up early to go to the supermarket for milk and a few odds and ends but once again no eggs on the shelves.

Followed up this with a drive to Jaycar, an electronics parts firm, to buy some polarised connectors and wire, I was unhappy with the Deutsch connectors I received yesterday but today got just the job.

By 11.30 I had finished my modifications to my new battery charger and it is now compatible with everything else. Even got to use my old copper soldering iron in the shed which is rarely used except for jobs where a lot of heat is required for which it is indispensable.

Don’t know what thrills the arvo holds but the weather is nice with temps sneaking up into the (very) low 20s but it was cold overnight so I have every door and window open trying to warm up the house.

Anyway have a great day, keep safe

Good morning to all forumers.
On the contrary @Bruce, at the moment it’s 7.30am and I have all the windows open to cool down the place , before our high 30s later :face_with_diagonal_mouth:.
It won’t work obviously, but it’s the best we can do.
I’m dreading my next electricity bill :rage:

Can anyone send me some cool air, please? :face_exhaling:

We’ll, I’m set to face another Groundhog Day. :100:
:fire:

At least I’m looking forward to my daughter coming home on Friday for nine days :041:

Good morning - It’s 17C outdoors at present. Going up to 21C later. A trip into town on the bus later. The usual road to get there is closed for the next couple of weeks for repairs. This also includes the route to the hospital. Important we know how long it takes to get there around the diversion.

I’ll be making a channel across the lawn later to lay a new cable for a wi-fi wireless access point. The one being replaced ran above ground around the edge of the garden but an animal chewed it so badly that it is beyond repair.

I tried repairing it and it worked OK for a while. By the time it was moved about, the connection failed again. Works perfectly with another cable roughly run from router to the TP-Link point but can’t use that. It’s not long enough and not an outdoor one.

Morning all – dull overcast morning, hope the rain holds off as the gardener is due this afternoon! :man_farmer:

The good news this morning is I have finished sorting the brassware :mini: now just have to decide which of the many, many horse brasses to keep. There is a large ornate antique brass scale which I am tempted to hold onto but it won’t fit in with the modern dĂ©cor of my house so I think it will have to go.

The bad news is I came across a box full of silver which I had forgotten about (hello early onset dementia!) :017: The majority of it is the result of my husband’s love of auctions so can go but some are gifts we received for our silver wedding anniversary and I know there is some in the box which belonged to my mother – so more sorting today!

Not much else planned for today – it is surprising how exhausting sorting can be!

Take care – have a great day

That nice Mr Rudd paid for my house to be insulated which works well keeping the house cool in summer but it also has the unfortunate effect of keeping the house too cold in winter. Before the insulation as soon as the sun hit the tin roof in winter the house warmed up nicely, never needed a heater but now I have to use my fan heater occasionally to warm the house up.

Swings and roundabouts I guess.

Good morning everyone.

A cloudy day here but hopefully no rain because I have washing hanging outside. There is no rain in the forecast for today so I hope they have it right for once. My dog walk over the fields was enjoyable, there was hardly anyone around. As I crossed the playing field I noticed goal posts and equipment set out for children on holiday but when I returned the chap was packing them all away again because no-one had turned up to take part! My sons used to enjoy these types of events when they were children - practising their football and cricket skills. How times have changed - it’s the second time I’ve seen the same man setting everything up and very few turning up to take part. Such a shame.

Not much planned for today. Coffee at a friend’s house in a few minutes and then my older son said he will pop around this afternoon for a chat, so I look forward to that.

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Good Morning Everyone

Rest day today, just the Tesco shop, and Mrs Fox wasn’t feeling up to it so I went and did it on my own. I managed to get round quickly without the 30 minute compulsory wander around the ‘Florence & Fred’ ladies fashions, I didn’t see anything I fancied this morning

Daughter and hubby invited us over for some lunch and a walk, they live out in the country but I don’t think it will be a long walk, they don’t do much these days, fair weather walkers

Busy day so far—no eggs at the supermarket, got some connectors from Jaycar, and finished modifying my battery charger. Used my old soldering iron too. Nice weather today, warming up the house. Have a great day!

Welcome markwilly!

And welcome from the land of chaos an missing - everything.

This is what
day 12(?) of pure chaos in the house. The dogs love all the comings an goings with the additional pat or two on the head, but with both kids unusually under the roof, it is becoming more challenging to muster up the magic to prepare full meals camping style.

@Sheila, what to do with all this silver? I was at the end of an era in which giving silver was traditional at weddings and such, so I have cabinets and drawers of the stuff that rarely sees the light of day. I have no idea what to do with it other than burden the next generation with it, a cloth, and a vat of silver polish.

Once I repaint the glass bowl in yesterday’s photo (the transparency is all wrong, I have the long and tedious job of cleaning, tossing, or setting aside for the stray animal thrift shop everything single item in the kitchen and pantry. The older I get the less sentimental I am about things and the easier it gets to get rid of it, but even so, every item requires - a decision.

I am reading that the manatees, which are usually out in gulf this time of year have been congregating in a nearby spring, so I may head out there this weekend for a little kayaking adventure with the kids. That little trip would provide the other stone of visiting the thrift shop with a load of the previously described - stuff.

With that I am off into the humidity for a late-morning run.

Have a lovely middle of the week!

Once I have finished sorting - the pieces I don’t want to keep will go off to the auctioneers along with the paintings, posters, brassware and other bric-a-brac!

I wish you were in town. We could take a break from all the sorting to sneak off for coffee, tea, and commiseration. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

This avian flu is a bugger isn’t it? Welcome to the forum, are you in a parallel universe?

Yes, it’s almost impossible to find the “right arrangement”, for any sector in life, actually. I wish it could be easy like professional musicians finding the right arrangements for their musical compositions

Good morning!

It sounds like a relaxing day despite the cloudy weather. I hope the forecast is right and your washing stays dry. It’s a bit disheartening to see events set up for kids that don’t get much participation, but it’s nice that you have some pleasant plans for the day. Enjoy your coffee and the visit from your son!
