Good Morning Wednesday 4th September 2024

Good morning to all on sunny, hump day Wednesday.

Crikey, it was cold last night, nearly down to single figures even though today’s temperature is supposed to be in the mid 20s. September is that troublesome month when the swap has to be made between the Winter and Summer doona (duvet in the UK?) - not yet it appears.

Remembered to water my newly planted Aloe Vera this morning.

Then was out with my trusty blower getting rid of the leaves from my verandah and back patio after all the recent winds. There is still a breeze today but not cold or unpleasant.

Well, that is just about all my excitement for the morning. Have a good one, what are your plans?

Good evening and morning!

For tomorrow, looking forward to cooler temperatures, a commute in my semi new car, a quick discussion, book an entry and commute home. For days that I get to see concrete and city beauty, I’m going to post some opposites

Good morning - It’s bright at present but the clouds are building. Rain is probable at some time(s) in the day. A cool 12ºC outside at the moment.

The transition between seasons used to give problems on what to wear when I was a 3 times a week cyclist, especially on Fridays when our little group met up and went out for the day. Got to decide on the grade of coat (if any) and leg covering. Nowhere to store a coat if needing to take it off. Don’t wear some sort of covering and might wish I had. A fine balance sometimes.

@LookingForward Nice flower photos. :slight_smile:

We ought to go to the supermarket today but if feeling too lazy, might just walk along to the local shop for a few items.

Other than that, a bit of property maintenance and cleaning wouldn’t go amiss. That will likely be the plan

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone.

It’s quite dull this morning and Alexa has forecast rain for later, just as I was going to hang out my washing - ah well, I’ll have to get out the airer and dry it indoors.

I haven’t been for the dog walk yet, I’m still contemplating whether to go on a different route today, it depends on whether it rains or not. I don’t want to find myself in an unfamiliar area in the pouring rain.

Some housework planned for later and then back to my book. It has taken a while to get into this one but it’s grabbed my attention now. It’s written by Victoria Hislop, wife of satirist Ian. I’ve read one of hers previously ages ago so I thought I’d give this one a go.

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Good morning!

It’s a bit cool & dull this morning, but not raining
I’m off to the town centre soon for a few errands - bank, library, haircut, buy a couple of birthday cards for my son & a friend, stamps … probably remember a couple of other things as well.

Then back home for some tidying this afternoon

Morning all – sunshine this morning although rain is forecast for later (of course it is!) :cloud_with_rain:

First, apologies for the whinge fest yesterday – grovels in mortification! :bowing_man:

Car returned having passed its MOT with flying colours so legal for another year. :038: Neighbour reluctant to give me the bill as usual – said he hasn’t printed it yet. We have a regular discussion about it as he only charges me for parts he uses and the cost of the MOT, I argue that he is running a business and should charge the going rate

Plans for today are to try to get Mum’s letter posted and try to find a bank branch which hasn’t closed! I think the gardener is due this afternoon, although as he has been on holiday I am a bit confused as to when he is due to come

Take care – have a great day everyone

Good Afternoon from Foxy’s world… :hospital:
Bit of a mix up this morning…
I received a telephone call from the surgery yesterday telling me the Doctor had ordered a fasting blood test. Not being able to find a suitable time to go to the surgery (sometime in November) I said I would go to the hospital where you can just walk in, and provided you are ‘on the system’ have one done straight away.
So I did the Tesco shop, returned home and put it all away and it was only 9:00am. I can’t use my bus pass until 9:30am and the first bus was at ten, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and get my 4 mile walk done as well… :walking_man:

It’s along busy main roads, but the rush hour traffic had died down now and it was a quite pleasant walk…So far, so good…
I arrive at the hospital and approach the woman on reception in the phlebotomy department, I explain that I am ‘On the System’ and she checks…Sorry, no your not… :astonished:
She recommends that I call the surgery on my mobile phone and they will sort it out…
Press one for appointments…Two for prescriptions…etc…I press the appropriate number and nothing happens, in fact, my phone thinks I want to call number 4… :009:
So I walk the four miles home…
They can just ‘Do One’…
I arrive home at midday just starving, so that’s why i’m late…

Good morning from sleepy Florida!

It’s good to read that aside from OGF’s understandably maddeningly frustration you are all getting things done and your days are clicking along nicely.

My niece is coming to town with an army of in-laws for a volleyball tournament, so I have been busy getting the beach place ready for them to use and keeping them happily entertained. I don’t have any grandchildren (yet), so I have been in grandmotherly bliss taking care of my great-nephew who is currently two and doing all those two-year-old things in hyperdrive.

The pre-hurricane disturbances are cranking off the African coast like a machine, but so far, everything that has appeared to be a potential threat has thankfully never coalesced. The skies are blue, the gulf is warm and tranquil, and I was able to make a good (albeit slow) five miles of it today. The tide was receding which means returned with dry shoes and feet which is a feat (ha) for me.

That is that from here! Have an enjoyable one!

Our hospital used to do walk-in tests. You could turn up anytime but a written request from the GP or hospital doctor was needed for it. I believe they test for different conditions, depending on what is written on the request form. Not an overall test for many things as might be thought. No request form is probably why it couldn’t be done.

Walk in at any time has been stopped now, it’s all appointments.

Isn’t that typical of the NHS these days!! I have to have regular blood tests, my previous GP surgery would send me reminders and then ring with the results. The surgery I am with now don’t send reminders and when I finally manage to get an appointment to have the test I always have to tell the nurse why I need it - seems there is never anything on her screen about it. They also never ring with the results and contacting them to ask for the results is nigh on impossible so now I just assume they will contact me if anything drastic shows up!

Hope you manage to sort something soon

Can’t you just go to a pathology lab? there are two in my street alone, and at least three more within walking distance, they all accept any doctor’s form and have the results at your doctors in a few days. Some are quite big with several nurses, some a one nurse operation. I don’t know where the actual labs are but you see the cars buzzing about with blood supplies.

Much more convenient than bothering a hospital with such trivia.

Nowt’ like that around here Bruce. Either the surgery or the hospital although you aren’t supposed to need any paperwork, the Doctor sends it through on the computer, you just need to prove who you are and bobs yer uncle…Or at least, that’s what’s supposed to happen…On this occasion computer said NO!.. :009:
