Good morning to you all on this fine morning. There is a pleasant breeze and temps are in the high 20s.
There was the slight chance of a shower earlier but it didn’t happen.
I have spent the morning tidying up my old laptops newly installed with Windows 11. Have been very pleased with the result.
Have to remember to book a doctor’s appointment soon or I will run out of my prescription tablets.
Not much else to report this morning. Have been chatting to my daughter on the phone about the Christmas arrangements and I decided to set up my little Christmas tree because my grandkids will be staying here over Christmas. Nothing fancy:
The days of a big tree with lots of decorations are long gone for me.
Anyway have a fabulous Wednesday - the weekend beckons.
Morning all – overcast and cold but at least it is dry (for now!)
Love the lights Bruce – although I still think it is too early for Christmas decorations! I still have tree decorations which belonged to my parents – my mother gifted them to me when she moved to Australia!
Gardener arrived yesterday and the garden now looks much better. He is coming back next week to plant some bulbs in the planters so there will be colour in the spring. The little bump he had in his car was apparently his fault so he had to spend almost an hour on the phone with his insurance company going over the details – at least he has a protected no claims bonus!
Dinner with friends last night was lovely as always, great food, great company and conversation.
Plans for today are to investigate the buses into the city centre. I am thinking of taking my Australian visitors there so need to find out where the buses stop etc.
I dont have a Christmas Tree anymore after going up into the loft last year to retrieve it I fell out into the hallway , landing me in Hospital with a bleed to the brain and other injuries. .
I have a Chicken Broth cooking in the Slow cooker , which will warm me up after I come back from the Concert tonight.
Have a good day all
Good morning. 6ºC and cloudy at the moment. Rain and milder weather is forecast for later.
The first thing to do this morning is drop off the keys for my brother’s (R.I.P.) house to the house-clearance man. Next drive along to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Then on to the supermarket.
All places are within a few mile of each other, so not too much of a run-around.
Somewhat of a sad morning today, our daughter rang up in tears after the cat she has loved for 15 years has finally reached the end of the line and has called for the services of a vet to visit and do the deed. She wanted the cat’s (Sally) final hours to be in the loving environment of her home and not in the clinical surrounds of the vets surgery, which Sally has always hated to visit…
A rest day today (that’s a joke) with an early visit to Tesco, solo, Mrs Fox couldn’t be arsed…
Fighting my way through the early morning traffic to obtain an M&S Shepherds Pie for tonight’s dinner…
Then receiving the phone call from a distraught daughter, and later, a climb up the ladder of death to attach a shooting star to gable end of the bungalow. Still a few lights to go up around the property, and shed load of wiring to be done…
And Mrs Fox in one of her cleaning frenzies has totalled the extraction fan and I’m still catching up on the forum…I should move my arse…
Decent lights Bruce, at least you’ve made an effort…
At my pace Sheila, if I start putting Christmas lights up now, they might just be done for the New Year… I hesitate to say that it’s because I’m older and not as agile on the ladder…
Sorry to hear about your fall Eliza and glad to hear you have made a good recovery…
God! that chicken broth looks tasty…
It sounds all go in the Mart household today…
Not a cloud in sight, but it’s deceptive with chilly and breezy conditions out there. Still, it was a nice peaceful day for a run while everyone else stayed home huddled up over cups of coffee. How I love the peace!
@Eliza your fall from the attic is a horrible story; thank heavens you are now ok! I’d just leave the tree up all year. I hope you have a thoroughly good time at the concert this evening.
@OGF, I am so terribly sorry to hear about. your daughter’s cat. It’s a terribly painful and personal loss, and I’m sure she was grateful to have your shoulder to get through this.
@Sheila, how nice your gardener spruced up the place! You’ll have to send us pictures of your flower in the spring.
@Bruce, I like your decorations and no doubt, your grandkids will love them.
The painting is roughed out and today I’ll clean up details and highlight the leaves, white lines, etc… It’s not one of my favorites, but good enough!
Today I am off on a scavenger hunt of details to get ready for this weekend’s drive to Virginia. I’ve had my head down in work for so many days that I am ready for a little adventure. I miss the days when traveling light was a thing!
