Good Morning Wednesday 31st July 2024

Good morning to you all on this cold, sunny winters day. Halfway through the week already.

I came home from the specialist with a pile of booklets to read. I shall probably not read any of them, but will just attend and take the path of least resistance. The wind yesterday was bitterly cold walking up to the hospital

Next week I have a PET scan to check cancer has not spread then a return visit the week after to the specialist presumably to arrange radiation treatment, he says it is all curable (assuming the PET is OK).

I have spent the morning sorting out computer “stuff” for the seniors club lunch. I am always amazed at how long this takes, partly because now we only do it once a year. Then sorted out why Thunderbird Mail reader is not working with Outlook (will start a thread on this)

Apart from that I have absolutely nothing planned for the rest of the day though I will probably stroll over to the club later for a snack and a beer or three.

Have great day. be good.

Yep, it is. You have millions of men around you who have been tried-and-true treated, cured, and living long and active lives. I hope your chin is up and you are just getting on with life. How are you doing?

An outing sounds like good medicine right now - a heck of a lot better than reading that stack of “Understanding.”

I’ll check in once I get around to going to bed (it’s still Monday night here) and getting up in the morning.

Have a good start everyone.

Good morning everyone, nice and cool at the moment so I’ll try and get some housework done before the heat starts up again :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Wishing you all the best for your PET scan @Bruce.

Goodnight @Surfermom.

Oh yes, not even thinking about it, I am not a worrier certainly not about health, I shall just go along with what ever the specialist says, he’s paid to worry about it.

It’s an old man’s disease, I am an old man.

Good morning - That’s it Bruce, go with the flow. It’s all a man can do. Good luck with it all.

Had a good day out in Guildford yesterday with the visiting family. It wasn’t half hot and humid though. Everyone trying to find shady spots to sit.

Visitors are gone today, so back to routine. They will be back after the 12th of the month. I’ll be riding along to the allotment soon to see what wants doing there.

Mrs mart is cutting my hair this afternoon. A trial for both of us but I can 't bring myself to let anyone else cut it after the 47 years she has been doing it. She is/was a trained hairdresser.

Have a good day.

bruce I didn’t now you had a kangaroo as a pet. It would be most interesting to see how they are going to scan it while it is jumping about.

Morning all – another hot sunny day forecast.

Wishing you the best Bruce – trust the specialists and keep a positive attitude

Yesterday’s visit to the hairdresser was challenging! They don’t have air conditioning and their one fan had broken down! I am pleased with the colour although she did cut my hair a little shorter than I like – still it won’t take long to grow

Off to a meeting at the local church this morning – they have some very interesting speakers. Unfortunately they don’t have air conditioning in the hall so have decided to wear loose clothing – not very flattering but hopefully will keep me cooler!

My gardener was due to come today but he texted last night asking if he could leave it till next week due to the high temperatures forecast for today – of course I agreed, we British can’t take the heat!

Take care – have a great day

It’s still as stump on a dead man’s grave this morning and heavens is it hot!

I would save this for the DIY or cleaning tips section, but I am sure that the forum will take great pleasure in sharing my plumbing ignorance…

Seizing every opportunity to learn during the house renovations, I decided I would try dismantling the sink, faucet, and garbage disposal. Except for the disposal, it is all being replaced, so what could a little side project hurt? I mentioned it to the pre-occupied contractor who dismissed me with a shrug and a wave.

I shut off the water, gathered a collection of towels, wrenches, and a flashlight, and went to work. Some of it was HARD to loosen (no man strength here). The P-trap was a bear, but I finally got the thing loose. However, with no warning, its contents, the most foul, odorous water, that can only be described as Level I hazardous waste spilled all over my hair, face, clothes…and mouth. Soaked in all the stink, I slunk passed the contractor and cheerfully announced, “Got it!” I was sure they would burst out laughing, but they just stared at me slack-jawed, not quite knowing what to say…

What bothered me wasn’t so much the nasty cleanup but the awareness that for years of fussily cleaning every square inch of the kitchen, the nastiest primordial soup imaginable had been sending clouds of bacteria, molecules, slime and all others natures of contamination into the sink and air - day after day, and year after year. Ick.

I feel victorious having completed the task, but I have since had a craving for a course of antibiotics.

Note to self: Clean thy nasty sink pipes with a little more - regularity.

Hi all, went out walkies a bit earlier than usual, my passport was being delivered and I didn’t want to miss the postman. But then it was put through the letterbox, and she (ms postwoman) never asked me to sign as she should.
Spent the rest of the day clearing out old clothes, turning the mattresses on the beds, laundering lots. Perfect weather for it, hot and windy.

Wishing you well @Bruce, I had my prostate out about 15 years ago now. I don’t know if that’s the best option, you can only do what they tell you is best. The cancer was in early stages and I was given 10 years to live at time. And the urologist told me they wouldn’t waste money on the op if they thought something else was gonna finish me off first!
