Good morning all you who venture here, especially @OldGreyFox who should fighting fit by now (I hope)
I visited two interesting places today, the first was Augethella where the author and characters from Smiley grew up. (does anybody still remember Smiley?)
The second was the site of the largest (non nuclear) explosion in Australia at the Angellala Bridge when a truck carrying Ammonia Nitrate caught fire and, while the firies were trying to extinguish the blaze, it exploded wiping out a rail bridge and road bridge, the latter has been replaced but the railway line dating back to the 1800s was never rebuilt. Several were injured and it was a miracle no one was killed.
Tomorrow I head into NSW and possibly the first rain I have seen this month.
It’s cloudy here but the Sun is shining right now. Part of the day’s plan has already been carried out. An early bus trip to the hospital and back (car parking is too much hassle). Our daughter is staying with our eldest son for a couple of days and they will both be here later. Don’t know what we will do yet.
did or should I say managed a bit longer walk this morning with a few stops for chatting to people. Everyone around here one meets are so friendly, pity it is not the same everywhere
Afternoon all – lovely sunny day so far – fingers crossed it stays that way
I have been out all morning at a club for “older” people. They had a very interesting speaker talking about the history of a school in the area. Met some nice people and put my name down to be sent a list of days out they are planning. I can’t actually join the club as they are limited to the number of members they can have, but I can go along as a guest.
There was a table selling second hand books – I bought 3 for £1! I will look out some of my books which I can donate next time.
Good afternoon all, getting here a bit late. We started off with horrible, misty, cool weather this morning, then the sun came out, now the clouds are back again, getting ready for what’s become our daily downpour, not right for the end of May!
Good thanks Besoeker felt so much better today. The food here is outstanding and nurses so obliging. I’m not going to say wish you were here though…
This is the view out of my window on the fifteenth floor…
I have heard first hand how disgusting the food is in Hospitals here in general…I was in for just a few days and survived on a bowl of Gruel each days last July…ok Cold Toast for Breakfast…
you could order several different menus but all seemed best left in the cookhouse…
When I was in hospital - many years ago now - the food was awful, I was eating very little and was told until I started eating more I would not be discharged. My sister-in-law, who lived close by would cook a meal and bring it in for me! I was the envy of everyone else on the ward!
I have to say that the food here has been outstanding with plenty of choice served by helpful and happy staff but that might just be me…Clean plates every meal yum!
