Good Morning Wednesday, 28th January 2026

Good morning all

Walk as usual early, a shower, then a doctors visit, had a row with the doctor. When I suggested I needed a chest Xray for a cough, he asked if I had a Covid test, I said no because I had no other symptoms and the cough started before Christmas.

Anyway I walked out with a couple of prescriptions, a pathology test for Asthma and a form for a chest Xray all to be done after I finish a course of antibiotics. When I got the scripts done I bought a Covid test, took it and rang him up to say it was negative. I could change doctors I suppose!

For reasons I can’t remember I took a picture of a public call box this morning.

I say I can’t remember but it was either because it was mentioned they had virtually disappeared in other countries but were free here or because of the public Wifi thing on top. I also can’t remember if it was this forum or another. So there you go

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Take care…

Good morning!
Bright, clear, sunny
It was frosty first thing but it has almost all melted now

Hopefully the worst of my cold/flu/bug is ending now, but I still feel a bit sniffly, and weak
So I’ll spend today on emails & letters

Good day all

@Bruce we don’t have public phone boxes here in UK, a thing of the past , mobiles have took over ,I keep getting a Text message from my provider, telling me my phone is out of date and it won’t work soon , All to do with 4G and 5G, and the G Im on will not work .

@Ripple The only paper work I have is Hospital appointments , and Ive been asked to change to paperless ,
I do get a lot of Junk mail ,catalogs and the like ,a lot of trees could be saved if they stop sending them out .

Have a good day all

Morning all…

Just got back from my walk and glad to see the swans back at the local waterway, despite the roadworks nearby. I did get caught in the rain halfway round and had to shelter until it stopped - which just happened to be a McDonalds, so I just had a quick coffee while I waited for it to stop and then wander up to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Yesterday was our trip to the optician for our eye tests, thinking my eyes had changed since last time, which they had slightly, but not enough to warrant new glasses, the same went for the wife, who also suffers from dry eyes.

Today, she’s off to get her hair done, which I treated her to. A close neighbour runs a hair salon and always gives me one of her brownies she bakes for her customers, which goes down very well with a coffee. After that, we may go to the seafront for a walk if the weather holds up, possibly have a baked potato whilst watching the ships sail past.

Have a great day all…

Watcha from South Yorkshire… :039:
Rest day today, so just the usual shuffle around Tesco early on, and then dropped Mrs Fox off in town to pay her Visa. I tell her I can pay mine, and other banking business online, while sitting in my pajamas before my first cup of coffee (now where have I heard that before? :017:)
She doesn’t use a computer (probably for the best) and certainly doesn’t trust the www… :009:

This is a typical call box here in the UK Bruce…

Phone Box

BT probably got sick of having to replace all the handsets and glass…

So the sun is beckoning me to get the bike out and do a quick one before lunch, following the disappointment on Monday…Catch yer all later…

Microwave internal light fitted and easy to do. Bright and sunny today .I have an optician visit tomorrow first thing, one for the NHS checkup and another for the DVLA driving sight test. Don’t think there should be any problems with the latter but fingers crossed. I have been waiting since Oct 2025 for application to go through and only at the time did I contact Spectsavers on the22 jan 2026 did I get the booking slot.

It is not me that needs an eyesight those but those in the DVLA dealing with applications such as mine need to have an eye sight test, also those overseeing this group need retraining as well about what they should be doing

Hi Eliza

My paper mountain is no more .
Hospital appointments and reports all gone why did I hang to them ?
Along with old Insurance policies, statements , receipt’s, how to use manufacturers manuals mostly seem to be in written in Chinese
Even some old photos & birthday cards no longer looked at in my memory box .
All gone Hooray .

Wardrobes Next .

And now it is evening…
We had the lady hairdresser this morning. She comes here for us and a few friends which is convenient - and sociable. Then I had the cancer machine for me. It takes five minutes for the beast - and three hours to ger there and back for the friendly Firefly Taxi Driver. Repeat and repeat etc…

They are part of Telstra’s universal service obligation, they have to provide them but decided it was far too costly to collect the money so made them free.

When you are travelling they can be very useful in remote areas where your mobile provider doesn’t have a signal. Here’s a couple at the Renner Springs Roadhouse in the Tanami Desert about 100km north of Tennant Creek

yes I can imagine they are a god send in isolated places , especially when your batteries are dead on your mobile . And having a good signal too.
